Pretend you have Ryu with an infinite priority uppercut that’s safe anytime you have 50% meter. Learn to Dust Loop. That’s pretty much it
BTW, a mech came in a couple days ago, so most of the broken crap is now unbroken. Most visually noticeable is that the “Ranger Mission” game sitting in there since Nov 2004 is now assembled and operational, and the “House of the Dead” lightguns have been replaced (but the game models still suffer bitrot and (un)display randomly missing polygons), “Target Terror” has been repaired. Less visible are the MvC2 (both), CvS2 (big), 3S (big) buttons have been replaced/tuned (joysticks unknown), SFA3 is “under repair” once again, and the MvC1 machine no longer suffers “creative colour palette syndrome”.
Still down: The second/smaller CvS2 is jammed with a boot error, GGXX’s right coin slot still eats quarters, Time Crisis 2 was powered off last I checked.
I just mention the less-interesting stuff to give an idea of where repairs are heading.
Round two is looking good, especially if they move it along as fast as they did saturday. Gotsta check with the s-master though. As for my GGX game, or lack there of…I need to figure out how to block better. I’m fine when I’m on the offensive but as soon as I have to start blocking a chain of attacks, I’m lost. Oh well, sometimes you’re Rick James, sometimes you’re Charlie Murphey I guess…
You can disregard my cardinal “It’s not a sin to block” rule in GGXX. Block only when you must, otherwise, attack like mad
Learn to instant block and faultless defense (green blocking) instantly and you’ll be fine. Normal blocking isn’t really … umm … used.
GGXX makes me confused
Has anyone played some Tekken 5 at XCAPE?
Wow. What the hell happened. Repairs are really moving. Alpha 3 and the other older fighters are operational, TC2 is still down, and the funny thing about the GGXX’s second coin slot is that the microswitch won’t stay on – coins went in, but missed the tripwire. Can’t imagine that being fixed, short of getting a new coin acceptor assembly. Now if they can do something about CFJ’s sound… it’s so loud you can hear it from the restrooms.
You should play Jam. You get to parry shit
The controllers for GGXX are broken, there’s no medium kick button!
It was kind of fun watching Sean play Sol because of the way he uses the joystick (no doubt the lack of a medium kick is offsetting). In any case, I lost to him, but at least I was able to pull off an 18 across-the-screen combo on Mr. Eddie user. Hooray!
Interesting…
btw, how are the buttons layed out for GG. how many buttons and what placement?
For GGXX and GGXX#R, 5 attack buttons, plus the Start button for Taunt/Respect.
K S HS
P _ D
Kick, Slash, Hard/Heavy Slash, Punch, (empty space), Dust. The labelling is up there on the GGXX machine’s panel/title art, way up top on the left.
I have no idea why Dust is called that. In general, it provides all characters with universal overhead (the Dust launcher) and universal sweep (crouch Dust). On a historical note, GG prior to XX lacked a Dust button, and a Dust attack was triggered by hitting S+HS. As you learn about Faultless Defense, (False) Roman Cancels, Bursts, and Instant Kill, you’ll see that the Dust button is in its own unique category.
…I have so much more to learn…
Guilty Gear XX Encyclopledia at gamecombos.com: http://www.gamecombos.com/games/ggxx/
Not exactly learner material, but it does cover a lot of stuff pertinent to GGXX gameplay.
Bah, GGXX is really broken now. 2P is lacking P and HS so that makes for Jam and Baiken to take the scene. I’ll start CvSNK2 now with my crappy P Groove skills.
I’ll see your crapppy P Groove skills and raise you a scrubby R4 Iori.
Damn 1p fierce on cvs2 is acting up again.
I saw a billboard that said in spanish, “With Your Desayuno.” It had a picture of a little girl with a bowl of rice.
