The TTT2 General Discussion thread

Anybody else having problems connecting for online matches? I get to the training screen and it says “connection error” everytime and kicks me out. Wierd, I was just playing online yesterday with zero problems

When is a Hwoarang main gonna come and make a thread for him? I’d do it, but I don’t think I’ll have the time to put into it. Plus I’m more focused on getting Jin down for now.

I’ve been playing practice for a few hours and I’ve got this message on the screen that says “You are about to reach the limit of distance, which will return you to the starting position.” What the hell does this mean? I’m on stage without walls.

I’m the only one who really wants to PUNCH THE FACE of the guy who wrote said shitty pseudo-article?

lol at “Tekken needs a dumbed down release.”. No it doesn’t.

It’s definitely the least beginner friendly fighting game there is. If they want to attract new players a basic tutorial like Fight Lab isn’t enough.

Tekken 7 should clean up the roster to a comfortable size.

It doesn’t need dumbing down, only point I agree with that article on is the organisation of information, or lack of general information, you see top 10s and combos but not what a character generally wants to be doing and what they specialise in, be it poking, mixing up, frametrapping, turtling up or whatever.

That guy is obviously a 2D player that struggles with 3D core mechanics and is blaming the game on him sucking at it. Be it DoA, VF, Tekken etc., they all rely on knowing when to sidestep/move backwards/move forwards and when to attack/defend and that takes time and practice to get down. There is no possible way to make the game any easier because it comes down to the basics (except with maybe making moves have 360 degrees tracking and full screen range like SC is doing).

I got into FG’s with SSF4, mostly played Marvel before this, and I still think that is the dumbest, most fraudulent SRK article I’ve ever read. Dumb it down? What do you remove? Netsu is a casual-friendly mechanic, Namco attaches a move to almost every input for every character so everyone has execution-light combos…
Seriously, what scrub-friendly ideas could Namco even do? Netsu is, while unnecessary and not nearly as broken, sort of like X-Factor. The lack of a super/ultra/hyper meter makes the game easier to understand. There are gameplay features for every possible level of play.

TL;DR: [details=Spoiler]

all i hear is “i dont want to put the time in… please cater to my fat/lazy american arse”

one thing tho that namco could of done better for newcomers was a bit more hand holding during the tutorial.

I felt as if the Fight Lab was great. Just the throw teching missions was a bit brutal.

been playing tekken since one and still fuck up throw techs time to time ha

I’ve been playing Tekken since 2 and didn’t even know you could tech throws until 5.

I’m seriously disappoint with the article, and to make it to the front page of SRK is disappoint…

Bound is there for noobs who don’t know what to do when they suddenly put their opponent in the air.
Rage is there for noobs to be able to let noobs come back.
Solo Mode is for noobs to be lazy and learn one char instead of two.
Pokes are beefed up so high for noobs who don’t want to bother learning combos.

Strip that down and scrubs will still complain because in the end, people that can’t block and mash buttons will still be killed by pros, and pros will be dissatisfied because the creative freedom tekken gives is stripped away because lazy people don’t want to keep up.

This game is A REAL MAN’S GAME. It will show a player’s true colors.

The fact I’ve been playing Tekken since the first and don’t even know what a tech throw is. lol

There was still important points they had to go over. I don’t remember the crush system or okizeme being explained.

That article was shit but you’re all going really hard on him. New players to the series are of course really intimidated by the huge amount of depth to the game and the time necessary to become a decent player. Long time Tekken players have a big advantage which is deserved, but it’s why it’s so rare to see any new faces in this community. I’m not sure were my opinion is on this. I think T7, instead of being “dumbed down” (hate that term) should just take a direction like Tekken 4, by trying to do something new and trim down the roster so people new to the series will have somewhere to begin before Tekken Tag Tournament 3 has a roster with over 80.

No sir…

First, many characters are “clones” which are there again for the noobs. People who are having a hard time learning two different characters can pick up “clones” to have easier time learning the game.

Second, tekken have players all over the world, and each character have a big amount of people who play them. This is not like SF where you can basically pick up one character and be good instantly. Those guy pour their hearts, minds and money learning their chars and basically stuck with them because they love the character and how the character fits to them, delete one and you piss us off…

In that same reasoning, Armor King should be scrapped because King’s there. Let’s see how many AK players would burn Namco HQ with that…

I don’t feel as if that was necessary. Throw too many things at a casual player and you’ll scare him off with the daunting amount of tech and features. Oki’s, crushes, wave dashing and the like should be reserved for the casuals who want to get deeper into the game. And those people, if they are dedicated enough, have no problem with watching tutorials on characters or reading guides.

The reason that stuff shouldn’t be brought before the new guys just looking to mash 1, 1, 2 with Law is because they just plain don’t care. Best fruit are reserved for those willing to climb the highest.

raises hand

It means that infinite stages–stages without walls–aren’t really infinite, and if you keep moving towards the edge long enough (i.e. for a few hours), the game’ll put you back at the start. It’s just how they made them work.

Yeah I just let it be and kept playing when it reset itself in the middle of a carry combo.

At that point, you might wanna consider just getting on the other side of them and carrying them back the other way. The message pops up a good bit before you actually reach the end.
