I plan to redo the OP sometime in the future in which I will add these bnbs in addition to askaās many bnb variations as they are character specific.
EDIT:
Tiers
S+ Karai, Ratking
S Raph, Arm
A Arm, Shredder, Wingnut, Mike
B Wingnut, Mike, CDome, Don
C Don, Leo, Aska
D War
The above list is not just my own but rather a mesh of conensuses based off match exp. (and some speculation) from communities of various sizes- hence the overlap of characters falling into multiple tiers.
I personally believe tiers S+, D to be the most accurate with S being not far behind (arm has some slight disadvantages). Tiers A-C imo still needs to be played out and more matches (by different players) need to take place for a proper and more accurate tier list to be finalized.
Iām thinking of constructing a match up chart to depict the tiers how i see them and share with you all. Canāt wait for that debate! lol
Zarās [Summarized] TF Matchup Chart
rph arm shd wn cd mk dn le ask war
rph X + = + + = = + + ++
arm - X + = + - - + = +
shd = - X = = = = + - +
wn - = = X ++ = = + -- =
cd - - = -- X - - = = +
mk = + = = + X - = + +
dn = + = = - + X - ++ +
le - - - - = = + X + +
ask - = + ++ = - -- - X ++
war -- - - = - - - - -- X
++ Signficant Advantage
- Slight or Moderate Advantage
= (Roughly) Even Matchup. Can go either way.
- Slight or Moderate Disadvantage
ā Highly Disadvantaged
I wanted to narrow down with numbers but itās too much of a headache at the moment especially considering the lack of play, matchup experience, and variety in the last few yrs. This chart just approximates the matchups how I view them from my personal experiences as well as examining matches of other competent players. Feel free to throw in two penniesā¦
If arm has two bad match-ups then he really has no business being second imo. Plus he loses to Raph and thatās the worst possible match you can lose in.
Meh. Just what I think.
fuck everytime i go into that fucking room aint no one around
keep in mind that the chart is in no particular order really, due to the absence of # value (which is what usually orders by rank/most points from top to bottom).
IMO Arm ranks slightly higher than shredder only because he scores more in certain matchups (lol go tier sheets :rolleyes:)
hereās a quick rundown:
Arm vs.
raph 4.5 , shredd 6 , wnut 5 , cdome 6.5 , mike 3.5 , don 4.5 , leo 6 , aska 5 , war 6.5
total 47.5
Shredder vs.
Raph 5 , arm 4 , wnut 5 , cdome 5 , mike 5 , don 5 , leo 6 , aska 4 , war 6
total 45
:china:
hmm i guess i suck at this game
how is Wingnut at a ā with Aska? wtf. note that I suck at this game but I canāt see that at all, if I had to put wingnut at a ā itād be with shredder which you have as =ā¦ whatās with these matchups?
Since I re bumped my tf video guides I will bum too the OLD tourney we got here on Snes hehe. Enjoy:
part 1:

part 2:

After that an UMK3 arcade tourney followed. You can hear some KI2 too in the background hehe
Wingnut likes to hang out in the air.
Aska has a really stupid srk.
Wellā¦there you go.
lol pretty much.
Wingunt has to work a lot to bait out aska dpās (hover back) and the best heāll get for a punisher is glide punch, hitting her before landing. Moonbusters can be blasted on reaction with HP dp when Aska gets in range. And as for her getting in range, Hip Check (flying ass move) closes ground extremely fast and often tags Wingnut as heās jumping (Wingnut surprisingly has the slowest jump startup in the game). The worst of this would probably be his lack of an answer to tablesalt>dp-throw-tablesalt mixups (qcb+ak). He can mash (cr.LKās lololol)ā¦but he can eat a dp for his trouble too. Letās not for get about the corpse crossup/fake crossup with slides :lame:.
(old but rape still applies)
WNut/Shred =
Apparently Glide Punch>Shredderās random. Stuffs Knee startup and has enough active frames to get past aura crusher invin frames. You get in this range and go to town with it. Shredders best options becomes: mash a cr.LP and hope you win out or jump out in which the Glide will tag him airborne. If you start reading for cr.LP/HP mash you can start landing Hovering jump HKās and rape him with a cps chain after.
Shredder on the other hand has probably the 2nd best jump attack (LK/HK) after Don and Leoās jump HP. Wnut antiair is weak but he still has options to get around this: gliding underneath his jump and jump neutral with early LK or jump back and Hover jump HK will both work if you read his jump. Too much jumping around on Wnutās part can get him in trouble though. He has to constantly think (which is what the shredder player is probably not doing lol) and consider when random crushers will be coming his way. They will often tag a dive or a high moonbuster at half screen or further. Wnuts best bet is to keep shredder guessing as to when you will start hopping around like a fool so you can bash his legs with cr.LKās when he tries to get cute with Crushers. Early LK dives or a late moonbuster upon landing is good during these times. For the most part, you probably want to stick to gliding and jump neutral LKās.
Itās even imo because once one of them gets momentum it becomes hard to fend off the opposition. It can go either way but donāt go by what I say really. Use you own experiences and try to examine, understand and learn from others that have the match up experience as well. Iām sure if we all played more people and different styles the tiers (esp. mid tiers!) would be dramatically different cusā¦TF JUST KEEPS EVOLVING. :looney:
@Hanzo
Good stuff, man. I was actually going to link those, along with some other high quality matches from other channels, in the OP :tup:. Playing on OG SNESSSSS. That is how you play TF the right way.
edit:
Iām on irc btw. Canāt get in any games atm but ready to chat tf.
AI RANT EDIT:
ok, lvl7 AI is on some shit.
itās linking several cr.LPās with Mike and is somehow jumping out of CDomeās unblockable meaty jumpin setup (does this randomly).
I tested both just nowā¦Mike cannot link cr.LPās and combo them and none of the turtles can jump out of the meaty.
ridiculous. Itās like st bullshit AI where it cuts down the frame rate on normals and combos impossible shit.
Someone actually brought an SNES with this game to EVO and I just happened to notice it amongst all the chaos. They were playing the game on the default speed so I had to beg them to put it to hi-speed 1.
As soon as they did I was getting complaints that it was actually too fast :looney:.
Apparently they hadnāt really played an Armaggon before either, so I had to show him how much much of a headache he is :smokin:.
Oddly enough, playing on SNES pad was pretty easy and worked better for me then my older usb pad.
Iāll put up like the two pictures I took of the station soon.
SNES pad was solid. Some people claim itās one of the worst ones cuz itās small.
Fuck that shit itās all about the d-pad. Anything else is preference.
I set up that CGA thing so hopefully it works if anyone wants to get some games in. Iāll be around tonight whenever or get at me and weāll set things up. Iām not that good but I love this game.
On CGA now. I have a game room open.
EDIT: GGs. You like the 5 Shark Boom block sting? :lol:
haha good games, I have no idea how to deal with a lot of Armās stuff yet, as evidenced by me eating almost everything you threw out Your shredder rushdown is nasty.
I have only played this game with one other person before so that was definitely a great learning experience and I had fun even though I only scraped a few wins. Look forward to playing again and more people need to get on this.
Is there a grappler? Is the netplay shit you guys use GGPO quality? If not are there WC players? Will there be a tourney for this game at NEC, because I donāt like playing games that have no tourneys for it. I need something else to play because I have the post evo boredom (aka ST is boring as fuck for me for a couple of months) so I need a new game and KoF 98 isnāt really working outā¦
So answer my questions Zar!
chrome dome iirc is the only character with a command throw.
Zee Tee Bee:
The only matchup in the chart that makes my eyebrow raise - though at this point I canāt remember why - is Aska having a major advantage over War. IIRC, that match was the only one War actually had an advantage in. Though again, I canāt remember why, so youāre going to have to refresh me please.

There was a side tourney for TF at my house my camera wast working so unfortunatly no vids this time but im gonna post the results.
