Iām not sure why people get upset over the term when even the players in the community for these games call them anime games, myself included
I call the games I play āanime gamesā, too, I just stick to a fucking clear definition.
I wish people would stick to one, thatās my problem with it.

I see āanimeā as a colection of mechanics rather than a visual style.
Vanguard Princess looks like the imagery was ripped right out of your favorite manga, but thatās one of the least anime looking games Iāve seen.
Anime games are airdashy, actually they have a lot of movement in general, and the ground may or may not be lava. BnBs are very involved sequences that require a lot of moves to do respectable (like 40% or so) damage. Air bocking and air teching are expected, combos and setups to bait and capatalize on bad techs are as well.
Thereās more to anime then that, and even what little I posted are hard and fast rules. I like to use the obscenity clause. āIāll know it when I see it,ā and for the record, I consider the Marvel series to be an anime series.
There is a difference though.
People who play anime games and call them anime games are happy with what they are playing
People who donāt play anime games and call them anime games are usually trying to bring down those that play them (not always but this is probably why this thread was made)
Yeah thatās very unpatriotic to only play specific Japanese video games instead of other specific Japanese video games.
Areā¦are you serious? Skullgirls, AH3, BB, every SF with Sakura, KOF13. And those are just the ones I can play on console and think of off the top of my head.
