If someone gives an opinion in that specific manner that you implied, then yes that person is a jerk, however, I’d like to point out that dismissing a fighting game because of its visuals is a completely valid reason.
Once you get past a certain point, you can understand a game to the point where you develop a sense of identity through your characters, and you start recognizing other people’s identity through theirs as well. That’s the reason why we can instantly recognize our favorite players or even training partners just by watching them play (I’m referring to serious players of course). The visual experience is a big part of that. When you play fighting games seriously, your characters ultimately become a representation of you. If you can’t feel identified through your characters you’re never going to understand the game well.
When I see a game like AH3 for example, I’m sure that it probably has deep mechanics and stuff, but I just wouldn’t be able get that point because I can’t even get to the point where I relate to the visuals. How am I ever going to deeply understand the game if I feel so misrepresented.
I’m sure most of you would relate that there’s a point in every fighting game where you feel and think “Ok, I think I now have a very decent understanding of my characters, its time to work in MY flaws” , and that’s when you finally feel you’re leveling up. Visuals are part of getting to that point, so it’s a completely valid reason to dismiss the game if your experience is being affected by this.
Oh and I don’t know what you mean by valid Capcom info
