I blame it on the “Dudebroification” of the gaming public. Dudebro gamers have always been out there thanks to EA Sports and the occasional FPS game that would somehow hit it big, but they were always the minority. These days, it feels like 95% of the people gaming are Jersey Shore rejects.
JRPGs stagnated which didn’t help things, but I guarantee no one would give a shit if they’d drop the androgynous protagonists and just have a more savage, macho man hero.

I actually consider marvel 3 way more anime than the rest of the Vs games. Its far less american style and far more anime style just from character choices and art alone.
Anime fighters are fighters who believe that copy and paste character design+story and superfluously named system mechanics sufficiently mask a lack of actual depth.

Renaming combos some arbitrary fucking word like “Heat”, “Beat” or less annoyingly “Rush”.
