Yoriko from Arcana Heart is probably the worst offender of that “girl screaming at every normal” issue. I think playing against her is probably the only time in my fighting game history i had to play in the closet I could not be caught with this.

Thanks for the article link though. That’s pretty interesting, if not really relevant to the discussion in any way that I can grasp, since most of those concepts can be seen in application in ‘anime’ fighting games.
The frustration isn’t from the lack of acceptance, but from how fucking stupid people in this scene are. So instead of having our arguments be on intricate mechanics we are still stuck at a the lowest phase possible. GameFaqs 2.0.

If you act retarded when talking about other games, you’ll end up acting the same when talking about your own game. Which is why you can’t even count on this website for valid Capcom info now.
Maybe deep down inside people know they can’t really diss those games on the mechanical level,(because this requires knowledge and experience in the genre which they don’t have) so they resort to stupidity. But when Capcom games (old or new, doesn’t matter) get shit it’s ALWAYS about the mechanics. (you know, REAL reasons)
So even the trolls and haters are more legit on “our” side. lol (I use quotation because there are no real “sides” based on sub genres. It’s really open minded people vs close minded people.)
It’s not just about 1 sub genre of games, but about all the less popular games. People shit on 3D games, SNK games and on everything else for similar awful reasons.
Sure KOF is cool now after Capcom has left some of you for dead with its new titles that you don’t like, but I remember back in the day people on this very website hated on KOF for “having no spacing”(as if they really know what spacing means), “having mindless offense” and other false claims.(Which they later transferred to Guilty Gear when it was time to hate on that. “mindless air dashing and mixups all day” lol) This website contains a long history of hating on practically anything you could hate on.
This is the internet so calm down, I’m willing to bet that a good majority of the posters here have played an “anime air dash game” and are just messing around.

Whip preistess in Arcana 3? during Chicago Tournament, stream did look interesting enough
Another character, called a “Cable type” though I didn’t see it.
Watching a Jojo’s fight, GGPO guys seemed pretty good. Belts moved during blockstun impact, pretty cool. Sorta made it feel more like a real (animated) fight constantly moving even when they weren’t. Changing a character / sprite at all during such a part of a match might not be explored too much in other games. That game is stylish.
And if you’ve only played all Capcom fighters… will they take it to P4A saying “those Personas are like Stands, just not as good?”

RPG games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star etc turned very popular despite having 100 % anime looks.
But anime fighters suddenly became unattractive? Regarding fighters that have a soft porn computer background like Melty Blood, I can understand why they are not for everyone. I tried the Tsukihime visual novel on PC and…well…wouldnt revisit it anytime soon.
but most console anime fighters are as decent as it gets.
I find the fanservice in Tekken and Mortal Kombat more distasteful than that of many anime fighters.
it has more to do with oversaturation of japanese fighters, which 15 years ago would never have seen a release outside Japan. We wouldnt mind the voice of Akari in Last Blade or Nakoruru in Samurai Showdown. But games with 10 Akaris and 10 Nakorurus would be not for everyone. Not all can be good. though the worst thing is adding loli anime stereotypes to 3D characters of known franchises, eg specific characters in Castlevania Judgement, KOF Maximum Impact, Samurai Spirits Sen etc In 3D it looks even worse than in 2D. That makes Akari’s and Nakoruru’s voices sound like opera divas in comparison
Those RPGs did great in the PS1 and PS2 eras. There’s a pretty huge bias against JRPGs that came out nowhere these days too.
Fairly speaking they did fall behind in the tech stakes and very few big budget JRPGs get made anymore, with most of those being pretty flawed in some way, but that doesn’t justify the vitriol.
