In fact, the game was made in Europe, thus making it not Japanese. I think more games need to take examples from Capcom and make games outside of Japan. when I think of anime fighters the first things that come to mind are IAD OTG combos, stick airdashing (seriously wtfs up with DAT), and a weird game pace, somewhere between sf and mvc2
When I thinknkt anime fighter I thinknkt melty blood, Arcana heart and skull girls ( btw if you claim to play anime fighters and you just googled melty blood and arcana just quit )
When I thinknkt Blazblue, Tvc , P4A and GG I feel the title is more…idk anime fighter doesn’t feel right.

The animation in many Anime fighters isn’t very good either. Between frames. Motion tween at all.
Its all, one big movement, lots of straps flapping around. Few bits of clothing like a jacket, skirt, or pant leg cuff maybe. Hair a little bit.

The Creative Uncut Article before on Darkstalkers, with damn near Disney level stuff was cool. You can even go back in the same developers and look at GG vs BB and P4 now with gigantic sprites, but a lot less motion.

There are different styles of anime. Some are more stylized with the big eyes, and some are more realistic. In the end it’s still anime. So they need to be corrected, if they think that.

Actually, looking at your gif, basically all they animated on him was his arms/hands and his cape. I guess his feet move back and forth one pixel, but most of the sprite is completely stationary.

Anime is about as useful of a term to describe a fighter with as grunge is to describe music because they mean absolutely nothing other than the geography from which the thing sprung. I prefer to go with “It’s like Street Fighter” or “It’s like Guilty Gear” or “It’s like Marvel” or “Fuck I dunno how to describe this just play the damn thing”.
BECAUSE THE GAME WHERE THEY CUT OUT FRAMES OF ANIMATION, AND REUSED SPRITES OF VARIOUS STYLES FROM OLDER GAMES IS THE ULTIMATE EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE NOT BEING LAZY WITH ANIMATION.

Also SF3 sprites are very small because of the monitor scale like 2XX x 384 or something. Then bumped up. See, zweifuss site for the sprite rips… going at faster speeds sometimes in loops. Then 100% view them is avatar sized small.
