Dustin from Hit Box is sending me a PS3 version to evaluate. Will let you know the findings.
I am going to need some testers:
Eugene-MVC2
Chris B-KOF
Ragnarok-MK
Me-AEv2012
Pat-SFXT
Richard-MVC3
I just made this list randomly but will probably need some input from Doromac, Jacob Ford, Eddie, etc since this is the group I see at the arcade most often.
One last note, this is directly from Dustin:
"The advantages from Hit Box come out of ergonomics and simplicity. Yes, charge motions release faster. Yes, Kabal zoning is easier. "
Now mind you I am taking this from a larger quote but this is a product that was made entirely for players to make things easier than even pad. The question is whether or not allowing them in tournaments will be a factor (at least with MWC) because these are essentially new devices…
I’ll let everyone know when it arrives. I’m pretty excited to play around with it.
Ok I’ve come to the decision to pick up kofxiii. my main reason for not picking it up until now is the lack of a scene here in Clarksville, but I’m going to go ahead and try it out and see how it goes.
As for SFxT, I like it. A lot of the hate I’m seeing towards it is justified though. I think I’m going to do a post listing my pros and cons whenever I get the time today, but I certainly don’t think people should just write the game off.
I’m curious to try one myself, I wouldn’t really care if I fought someone using one. But with that said, they don’t seem natural at all. Fighting games are created with arcade sticks and regular controllers in mind. Not hitboxes. I imagine if a game company made an arcade cabinet with a hitbox installed rather than a stick, it would play a LOT differently than they currently do if you just plug one into SSF4.
So in other words, I’m kinda neutral honestly. I respect your decision to ban them Jason, especially with all the backlash that decision is getting from the tons of people who are totally gonna go to MWC if it’s not banned anyway (Not). It’s your tournament, you should be able to run it how you see fit, and if you don’t like hitboxes, tough shit for the players who like them. Hitboxes aren’t universal yet, so this is something their users are going to have to deal with for a long time.
Starting to really reorganize my KOF team. I just started playing Benimaru…he’s crazy fun. Bishop or anyone else that plays him, do you guys have any tips/good to know combos?
This is the one thing I’d have to consider with it in x Tekken. Kaz’s electric (not the regular uppercut) is bonkers: leads to 400 meterless damage midscreen (and that’s probably not optimized either), +1 on block, pushes a lot of characters out of jab range, goes through high attacks by dint of mist step and it might (not sure on this) actually crush lows. Reducing it to an easy motion that can be slammed out on command means Kaz players might be able to just do it constantly until you nut up and try a reversal, at which point he can just…not do it. The crazy reach on his cancelable normals makes it that much worse.
Everything else in the game is sloppy as shit anyway so it shouldn’t matter otherwise, but this is the one thing that initially stands out.
Don’t forget, T&G is hosting a FREE tournament tonight at Gamestop in Southaven, MS in front of Wal-Mart @ 6:30 for SF x Tekken. Gamestop is supplying prizes one of which I know is the SF x Tekken Fight Pad. 1st and 2nd will also get free entry into Fight Night tonight. Even if you don’t play come out and show your support, but those of you who play this game I expect some hype tonight!!
Of course he’s fun, he’s the best! I can respect playing top characters, though.
Also, big ups to neoblood for trying out KOF. I wouldn’t fret over not having a scene, espcially since KOF is played a bunch at fight nights and tournaments. This game isn’t like SF where matchups matter so much. You don’t have to play a first to 50 with a high level player of a character to finally understand a matchup, and they won’t be 6-4 or 7-3 bad in the first place. Focus on technical knowledge, fundamentals and training mode. In actual matches, I would work on hops and movement, anti-airs and punishes more than anything else. Also if you just pick 3 characters you like, 2 of them are probably godlike, so I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to pick the best. Everyone is cheap.
Please share these Elisabeth technologics. Anything. I need all the help I can get. When to command dash, mixups, opening people up, best “get a nigga off me technologies”… anything. She’s my worst character but my favorite at the same time.
Lmao! I know right? Dude was mind fucked after that shit. He started to let me get away with murder.
And yeah Cammy did slam the shit outta cats. The screen would start spazin out like “Ooooooh shit son! You see that shit???”
