Man, the top ranked fl player already goes to everything, though. Outside of MAYbe evo. But that gonna cost a chizzunk so I dont see that getting paid for.
Anyone have any black button plugs or spare black sanwas I can buy/have?
And nothing of value will be missed.
QFT flash metriod already goes to all the majors. Steve, in your model would you be taking that dollar from the 10 venue fee or on top of the venue fee for a total of $11 ?
hey just moved to tally and was looking for a marvel community some 1 told me to look here i was wondering where you guys usally meet and at what time.
txt me at: 8139646144
What if over the course of a tbd “ranking season” (i.e. span of months with some major-city tournaments) there was a tournament in Tally/Jax/Orlando/Miami/Tampa – it could be a new tournament (like I imagine Tallahassee would have to put together) or one that already exists (maybe Storm/a CEO event/South Florida xx/etc. Start small, maybe only do AE2012 and UMVC3 and give the top 8 players ranking points.
At the end of this tournament season we would hold a Top 8 Florida tournament with these two games. We could start a new season-finisher tournament like Michigan has with its Michigan Masters series (or side-tournament, maybe include this at CEO? It is Community Orlando after all).
In order to qualify for the top 8 spots you need ranking matches from 3 of the 5 tournaments. So here in town we’d only have to play home court/Jax/Orlando, Miami crew wouldn’t have to head all the way up here if they couldn’t due to gas/time/etc. and us the same. I’m sure there would be encouragement to attend as many events as possible though.
We get the final event streamed, gives Florida players exposure and stream monsters get a good tournament to watch. If the final event was at CEO of another Florida major it would give that event good publicity and exposure as well (personally, I think it would be really fucking awesome if this was at CEO, I think it would help put Florida on the map besides being a good venue).
Just my $0.02
I say start small. We just started a ranbat system in gainesville. No reason why you can’t do that in tally too.
After numbers/hype are up try to get it in all of north Florida. Maybe after a little while there can be a gainesville/tally/jax merger where each city takes turns hosting on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
Then maybe if all that happens start expanding to the rest of Florida.
My model is add $1 to each game. If AE is $10, make it $11. If 3SO is $5, make it $6. Then all money is pooled.
I have always been a “go big or go home” kind of guy. But I can’t speak for other Tally dudes.
@Jarv, a Tops Tourney would be awesome… But as the lowest-tier player in Tallahassee, I’d still like to earn some points. They’ll give me a reason to live.
You gotta place to make the points, dawg.
I dunno what you mean by this. No one is forcing you to play any specific character? I really don’t get the whole “low tier warrior” mentality. If it’s fun then that’s good, that’s the point of games but playing someone who sucks specifically because of that is just odd to me. Just wondering what the deal is haha.
At my ranbats that just ended in Jax I had it for every person who got lower than 6th gets .5 points. You are never going to get to pass anyone with those .5 points but it acted as the tiebreakers, giving preference to people who came out.
@ sying, I like that idea.
@ Jarv, you misunderstood me - it’s not my characters that are low-tier… I like to think that I actually use an AE character that after 2012 comes out, will be top-tier. I meant that as a player that consistently places low in all of our local tournaments, I should be able to speak on behalf of the Tallascrub community. Haha
did some1 txt you?
if not, somebody fill him in so we don’t look like a bag of dicks
This Ranbat thing is a shit tier idea.
Do you people realize how inconsistent Tallahassee and most of the surrounding communities are?
Ranbats are shit in general unless you have a large group on the same general level (see WNF or 8 on the break).
Otherwise you get Austin/Crespo winning AE and Logan/Ron winning Marvel and after two of those things it becomes evident thats how every one is gonna end and people stop coming/entering.
Team Sex Panther (Virgil, Strange, Strider) is coming for you all. Plan me a proper tournament to showcase my badassery.
Dont get all burnt out on 5 man tourneys.
GAWDD I love double spacing shit!!! Formatting thats you guys’ problem.
Steve: or more so the people running it have unrealistic expectations. It just doesn’t work like that. It might be somewhat reflective but in the end, there’s no system that account for all possibles because you can’t guarantee 100% participation of the player base. Jay, who is arguably the best AE player in town, doesn’t play in tournaments. Jeff Boone, who is one of the best MvC3/SF players in north Florida, hands down, had one of the lowest rankings in Jville’s last ranbat season. Countless examples of this run rampant. Unless people are paid to do this (read, professional sports), the kind of data you would need to make any conclusive judgements other than the most obvious would take dozens of tournaments to accumulate. CEO monthlies are probably the best representation thus far, and even those are skewed.
tl;dr: what Andy just said.
EDIT: just to say it again, I’ll participate, if nothing else but to put my Rogster in a tournament setting more than once a month (ish), but keep your junk realistic. Take it from someone who’s done a system like this. It just doesn’t work out the way you think it will.
60% of the time, you lose every time.
Ranbats would be cool if most of us weren’t so busy/lazy. I understand the desire for a more competitive setting, but nobody really *wants *it. Rogan’s on Tuesday is usually about people dicking around on stuff, and our tournaments are too far apart to foster any kind of real training from anyone.
I’m going to literally rape someone with Sex Panther. I’m going to win and your anus will just start bleeding…
It stings the nostrils!
Hey, I tried. I enjoy coming to the Tally tournaments but I really want more participation from both Tally and Gainesville.
We can go back and forth and bitch and moan about how ranbats don’t truly decide who’s best (so what?) or how everyone will be lazy about attendance before even trying…
OR
the two cities can at least make an attempt to organize some great events. I’m sick of Petey and Phil dominating AE and marvel respectively in my town (and apparently in tally too!) so I love traveling to other cities.
In any case… I just want to see these communities grow and maybe get a friendly rivalry going.
I will kill both of them. Who are you?
You seem naive and positive so I suggest you guys do the 5 v 5 you suggested before. Then both towns can develop that rivalry you speak of as a group. You can cheer on your pals or in Tallahassee’s case your lovers…we keeps it Spartan! Then have side bets and side tourneys around the 5 v 5. Thats a good car load and you guys can play within your own town to decide who makes the team. This could happen every month switching off cities and eventually could involve Jax and P-cola. I know Mixon and Paul would want in. If Mixon comes Jeff will, so…do it.
I won’t play…Miami is too good. It wouldn’t be fair.

I’m a nobody. Just a dude that wishes everyone still played 3s and ST.
5v5 it is. Name a time and place tally.

I hate fighting Akuma otherwise I’d body Petey and Petey knows it Yep, I said it. /bullshit
And yeah, I’d love to play with some of you Miami boys on the regular. Kind of want to see how much you’ve leveled up from being there.
