(Ugh. Almost forgot to add LordWilliam1234’s stage to the front post despite seeing it when I got back yesterday.)
Oh, I see, ReggieHadoken. The most I remember from Lost Levels is rage-quitting over poor level design since that’s apparently one jump that you literally can’t make as Mario relatively early on if you’re not skipping stages, which I thought and still do think is one of the most bullshit intentional things in games ever and that’s saying a lot.
Ironically, “more aggressive” Piranha Plants would arguably see less people dying to random Piranha Plants since I’ve seen more people get killed by fooled being into jumping on a pipe with one at the “wrong time” due to Piranha Plants’ tendency not to pop up within a certain proximity than people get killed for jumping a pipe they know one of the Plants is definitely in.
What level is that exactly? I could be wrong because it’s been a long time since I’ve played it, but I think I’ve beaten the entire Lost Levels with Mario before.
I want to say it’s in World 4 or something, but I’d have to look it up and I’m in the middle of something else right in addition to trying to block all the noise that this basketball game is causing around here.
(Ugh. I’m such an idiot, which is why I really do need people to double check the front page from time to time, at least when it comes to their own stages and/or videos. I apparently skipped over your “◆S-5: SHAKA” and “◆S-6: FLEEK” stages somehow, @ReggieHadoken. Sorry about that. It’s been fixed now.)
@LordWilliam1234: According to the “Medals” section of the Super Mario Maker page on the Mario Wiki that I linked to in the first post months ago, the next medal after 150 stars opens up at 300 stars.
@“chadouken!”: I’ve checked a bit more and while I can’t find the FAQ on Gamefaqs I found that originally confirmed it, I’m pretty sure it was indeed stage 4-1 or some non-castle level in World-4 that made me go “this is bullshit” when it came to Lost Levels and never touch it again.
At everyone else: All stages and videos from my last page, in addition to the aforementioned two that I missed, have been added to the front page. I’ll likely not be around again until tomorrow night at earliest, so if there’s something (still) missing, please tell me before by then so I can fix it.
My first course to include Red Coins. The Red Coins don’t come into play until after the checkpoint but be to grab all four as it is impossible to finish the stage without them.
That level is amazing, man- great challenges you have to be patient for. I actually had to sit and study the damn hammer bros to figure out how to get them without getting got. Usually I just blast past them full speed, lol. Really cool challenges with the flame jets and blade saws, too. Definitely one of the more-creative and challenging (in a good way) levels I’ve played. Usually when I spend that long trying to beat a level I get pissed off by the end of it, but this one I was having fun the whole time. Great job, man!
Good shit, man! That’s the first video I think I’ve heard you drop F bombs in, lol.
I’m actually really impressed. I can never make it through the second part where you wait for the bricks to break and keep the cape near the end.
Right after that first P switch door in the beginning, if you’re quick enough you can jump up to a pipe for a cape, then immediately float to the right after you come back through the pipe to grab Yoshi. There’s an alternate route through the level that involves bouncing off the spike balls with Yoshi to get the key for the red door at the end, but that just leads to three 1 ups (good for playing this level in 100 Mario Challenge).
Also, there’s a secret area you can jump up to near the beginning in the area after the thwomps. Right when you go up that pipe the first Magikoopa appears up to your left with two coins. Jump up there and there’s a checkpoint, power ups, and Yoshi.
Thanks! I wanted players to get used to standing on the Jet Engines so I used them early on. The idea to use Jet Engines as platforms was how the creation of this whole course began. One night it just popped into my head that I could use them has hazardous platforms and the rest of the course evolved from there.
Originally, this entire course was all about Red Coins but when I was going to complete this course from the checkpoint, I was quite annoyed to find out that the game does not keep Red Coins for before checkpoints when it comes to clearing levels. So I had to scrap the first section of Red Coins in favor of Keys. Thankfully, hardly any of the level had to be altered to do this and players are still required to deal with the likes of Hammer Bros. and Magikoopas. The section with the Magikoopas was particularly fun. This is the most I used of them and prior to this level, I noticed that they could only materialize on solid ground and just how much ground was there indicated where they could go. The smaller the space, the less they have to work with, which makes them more of a headache.

I was inspired by the Super Mario World Special World level Outrageous for this one. Of course, that level had ice physics and slopes. No slopes or ice is in this stage, but I made sorta-like hills with what I could. Enemies are plentiful but not to the point of enemy spam territory.
Just a heads-up: No Mario Maker vid from me this week unless I trip and fall over some time to record. New job plus Evo prep plus Writing session this week equals no time, I’m afraid.
I should be recording one next Monday when I get back though!
Thank you!
Ah, I C about that shortcut. I was wondering how the hell I was supposed to get that Yoshi lol. XD
You ever create a course, try to clear it for uploading and then ask yourself “What have I done?” I try to challenge myself as well as other players when I make these S courses and I think I may have used too much gusto when making this one. This is a very chaotic ice course with very little time to breath. Quick reflexes will keep your power-ups on you but you still need to be mindful where you’re standing. The final section of the sub level made me want to chuck my GamePad when I was trying to beat this stage.

Wanted to make a Sonic course in honor of the Blue Blur’s 25th anniversary. It’s Green Hill-ish and you can blaze through it if you choose to. There are tons of Super Stars in this course to put more emphasis on speed but you have to take the high road to find them. This is a pretty easy course.
