Here’s a few of those courses I was talking about. These don’t have to be uploaded to the OP since they aren’t mine. I just thought you guys out to give them a go.
Frozen Spikes
C684-0000-0038-C30E
A very well made Ghost House themed level.
Lost Temple Treasure Room Redux
ABDF-0000-0026-A0E8
An Underground SMB3 level with some nice platforming.
Space is Cold
9E54-0000-0016-5CB9
Not only is space cold, it’s slippery.
Tall, Tall Tower
F130-0000-0064-2FAE
Someone found a sweet way to use vertical scrolling in side scrolling levels. Really good stuff.
(I’ve updated the front page with it regardless, though I may change around the wording of some things yet.)
I’ve also updated the first post with all of the stages that everyone else just posted, though I’m not entirely sure if Sonichuman’s new stage is missing the “g” at the end of “Droppin”, is supposed to have an apostrophe after the “n” or is really supposed to be “Droppin the Hammer”. As it is, I just use the name that’s currently in his post.
Anything else I can do for you? Granted, you’ll have to wait for about two hours since I’m going on my exercise rather late tonight (despite still managing to miss the eclipse despite that being the reason I was going to leave so late).
(Added to the front page and, in Sonichuman’s case, fixed. See? Being pedantic actually helps at times.)
Despite not having the game myself, given how many people keep asking people to play their stages, I’m beginning to wonder if it might be worth it to keep a running tally of who has played what and who has beaten what. I’m not sure if it would need to be in the first post and I’m not sure how helpful that would, be if at all, given it seems like at least somewhat shows you in-game apparently; given that I don’t have the game, however, I’m not sure what the extent of that information is.
Shrug.
Oh, this reminds me: note to self: look for a list of everything all the items and blocks that are currently in the game before this week is over.
For each level the game shows you a list of the people who played the level, if they’ve beaten it, and if they starred it. Doesn’t tell you how many times that person died in the level though.
You know, the popularity of the automatic levels got me thinking. I wonder if this can be used as evidence that people want their hands held throughout a game, and don’t actually want to play the game.
(Inb4 @“po pimpus” rant)
Nothing against the makers of those kind of levels, they’re cool, but still…
I’ll probably be on tonight to finish that Forrest Temple, LW. And I’ll have the house to myself for the next 10 days so I’ll get put up some more levels.
LW, I’ll be playing your Hyrule 3 stage in my next session, likely this coming Sunday.
Also, I generally will put up longer vids for this and play more levels - but I had to cut one level out of this vid because my drowsiness got to me, and I fell asleep multiple times while playing lol.
(You can tell I’m fighting sleep at the end of this vid, tbh…)
The Update for Super Mario Maker to have everything unlocked from the beginning, It didn’t work for Me & my Nephew, Had to do the 9 day thing…But it took like 2 hours to open it up, I Love the Game
No one called me out on this but I made a mistake with the 3rd level on my Wario Land post. I posted the old one I uploaded, which I deleted before actually making that post. It’s fixed now in the old post.
Good stuff man. I didn’t realize how tough Cheep Cheep Bridge is. It’s amazing how easy it is to lose sight of the difficulty when you design your own levels. I placed the red arrows in there to indicate when to stall. That’s sort of the puzzle mechanic I was going for in order to get those pefect jumps and pick up all the coins for the extra man.
Jesus Chadouken. I don’t even think I’ve played that stage of yours yet and I’m watching Roknin trying to play through it right now. I’m gonna have to try it and break my pad.
You got what was trying to do with the course on the second go all the way up to the area with the with the music block where you completely blew past the boss in a manner I wasn’t expecting lol. Doomship, Big Boo Bros. Boogaloo, and Dropping the Hammer are my longer courses so I’d recommend those if try more of mine.
(Indeed, that was kind of painful to watch, though more due to the stage itself than anything else.)
Funny, when I chadouken! mentioned arrows as stopping points on his stage, I honestly thought that he meant as actual stopping points one had to stand out so not to get hit by a flood of Cheep Cheeps or by Thwomps or something. Huh.
Anyway, I fixed Rice Beach 3’s code in the first post. I’m still trying to decide if I should link to some videos and, if I do, what would the best way to present them. At present, all I’ve decided is that I’m likely to give roknin’s videos their own section since so far he’s only person besides LordWilliam1234 who has posted a video of themselves playing the game in here at all.
I’m sure that’s part of it, but even as cynical and misanthropic as I am, I think part of the appeal might also be just being able to “play through” those levels yourself after seeing variants on them on Youtube and such. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were so popular (also) because of the “participation in a cool fad” factor on top of not having to do any work and the often neat visuals.
There’s no doubt that a lot of people want their hands held though.
