"Buzzsaw Bonanza"
Good to see that you found a theme and stuck with it, but it was very easy to break because of Yoshi. While you canāt spin jump on blades, Yoshi bounces on blades, making the rest of the level much easier. If you want to keep the Yoshi in there, you should make it harder to get to him, because the reward for getting him is really high for how easy it is to reach him. I would normally suggest putting the donut blocks higher in the wall jumping section, but since you have the buzzsaws chasing you in that section, Yoshi could simply use those to get up the area no matter how high you put them. I appreciate how you put the door below the following section, with the bone raft and saws. It would be easy to accidentally fall off the treadmill since itās going fast and you have the pressure of the blades behind you, so seeing you taking that into consideration was good. The last part felt a bit tacked on, to be honest. Normally a last section in a themed level like this would be the most difficult part, preferably building off of earlier sections, but it was actually the easiest part of the level.
And yes, I did go back and beat it without Yoshi.
āRobinās Gravity Houseā
It definitely works as Ghost House type of level. The level gimmick definitely fits the name, nice use of the different platforms. As a proof of concept, it works. Iād definitely like to see you expand this into a more complete level, maybe with more platforming challenges to accompany a puzzle.
Although, that bone raft section at the bottom could have used a warning that it was a dead end. Wasnāt really expecting to die there.
"Spin Jump Fun"
You didnāt mention this one in the thread as far as I know, and I see why.

"Last Door, Left"
Decent level, but thereās a real disconnect between the two sub levels, I feel. On one hand, you have the ghost house level, with relatively simple platforming and multiple paths. Then you have the underground segment, which doesnāt really do anything substantial but lead back to the next ghost house segment. It justā¦ kind of feels unnecessary. As it is, I donāt feel like the underground segment enhances the ghost house, or vice versa. The only interesting thing it did was the bullet cannon on a cloud that chased you to the next ghost house segment. I dunno, it just feels like you used the sub level because you ran out of doors to use in the ghost house.
Your ghost house portion of the level has good content for the most part. It had a good balance of difficulty, with a couple of trick paths one would expect out of a ghost house. As long as you pay attention to the layout of the level, and mind the name of the stage, then getting through it isnāt a hassle (AKA itās fun).
"Kamekās Party Castle"
I would say this is the better of the two levels. It was varied in its challenges, which I feel is also good; not everything has to be strictly themed. I like that you grant early access to the leaf to those who are observant in the third area, and donāt make it too easy. Though I think hiding the first mushroom AFTER the first area, which apparently lead to quite a few deaths, was not a good idea. The first overworld area was alright. Using the bloopers was a good idea for the lakitu, as players are likely to miss the p-switch on the way to the next area, and will have to deal with an obstacle on the way back. Itās much more tolerable of an obstacle than a normal lakitu however, as bloopers donāt immediately fall on your head, and you can kill them, unlike spinies, so good on you for choosing that. The last real segment (I donāt talk about bosses unless something really interesting is done with them) is interesting, because depending on how you handle it, the room can be easy, or a nightmare. If you try to take it cautiously, youāll soon have more fire cheep cheeps on screen than youād want (read: Any amount), which can make the section with the three Kamekās tougher than it needs to be. However, if youāve got the leaf from earlier (or if youāre quick enough with the one in that room), you can choose to quickly deal with the three, or use the tail swipe to get out of the room fast. The end is kind of bland, compared to the rest of the level though.

Your Forrest Temple is amazing! VERY good puzzle mechanics. I made it to the Big Boo circle and ate shit. Iāll try it a few more times later, gotta crash now. But thatās one of the better puzzle levels Iāve played.
I havenāt gotten to play nearly as much as I want to lately, and I have company coming this weekend. But my fiancee is leaving for a few weeks on Monday and Iāll have an abundance of time to make and play more levels in the upcoming weeks.
Jump Man, the first course I uploaded has 9 stars and has been cleared more than any other level in spite of the rise in difficulty near the end of it. This made me think if I made That Bratās Castle too difficult because as of now, only one person has cleared it. Iāve given some thought to tweaking it a bit and since I have the next 3 days off work, I think Iāll do just that and re-upload it.
I was playing some other peopleās levels and it got me thinking. Making challenging levels is fine and all but I want my levels to be fun, too. Some of the levels I played were so well designed that they felt like the could be official Nintendo Super Mario stages. Sometime Iām gonna take a stab at making an entry level stage for novice Super Mario players. I think itāll be fun to try to branch out and make stages for every type of player.
Anyhoo, uploaded a new level, my second Super Mario World type.
Yeah, I put in Yoshi on purpose to make the level easier if you got him, but I guess it works too well for that. Level balancing like that has never been quite my strong point.
I made the last part easier on purpose, as I felt for the more average player, getting through the āharderā part of the level would be frustrating enough (Iām seeing a lot of players dying on the very first section alone), and the last part would be a kind of easier/fun āreliefā for them afterwards (triple jumping through the buzzsaws, or just bouncing across them if they have Yoshi).
Well thatās good to hear. Iāll see about making a larger level with that in the future.
My friend made that one when he came over yesterday.
(Hey, T20thoughts, if thereās anything I can do to help, just let me know.)
In the meantime, despite myā¦hesitance to go to reddit as is, you may want to post the links to reddit that were posted in here into the first post since theyāre supposedly rather informative or, at the very least, answered some questions that are probably going to be asked again.
@āThe Damnedā - If you or other mods want to help with sticking levels into the top post here, do go ahead! Iāve been having some rough times these past days, so havenāt gotten around to updating myself. Figure Iāll do it in a day or two.
Any way for mods to add a separate second post in there? Would be useful for links like what youāre mentioning. The original post is already getting hard to manage sizewise
