Loved that game as a kid along with CVS2 on the PS2.
I remember finding a image/meme of Advance 3’s ending, the game before he went to shit and that ending image is so harsh to see knowing what the franchise has become. It’s the video game version of the Simpsons. SEGA has far more interesting IPs to utilize IMO than Sonic.
I dunno…since day 1 Sonic was explicitly designed as a character to appeal to western youth as being “totally radical!” unlike Mario
Sonic had like…a handful of good games. Like it’s seriously 10% or less of his total games. And they’re almost all front-loaded in his library.
He was always a character first & foremost designed to appeal to the west. Shadow was absolutely another attempt to re-ignite that spark…and it shows just how laughably out of touch Sega has been regarding Sonic for decades and decades.

I can’t really speak for Sonic’s games as I’ve only played the GBA ones and Heroes+the first Adventure game. Never was a fan of platformers except Megaman.
Like I said, Sonic’s a zombie now and that’s not even going to the fanbase, it’s up there with Steven Universe and Naruto in terms of cringe.
Also, I’d like to change the subject, it’s never pleasant talking about this.
I do love me some cringe!
And yeah, Sonic fanbase is right alongside Steve Universe and Naruto indeed LOL

since I played Sonic here’s what I consider to be the best Sonic games that I played
1 Sonic Mania & Sonic Mania plus ( Sonic Mania was just a beautifully craft platformed . to the wonderful sprites , stunning stages , and fantastic music ( especially Mania’s theme for super sonic I love that theme) . Sonic Mania was work of art it had the heart of Sonic 2 and 3 .)
(to me it was one of the best platformers when it came out. Christian Whitehead and his team did good . Sonic Mania plus was a nice add on to Sonic Mania. 2017 was a good year for Sonic well Classic 2D Sonic at least with Sonic Mania a game not made by Sega’s Sonic Team being the most well receive Sonic game in years when it came out. )
