The Super Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

Let me bring another perspective to this argument. I’d rather see Rose in a game that doesn’t give us watered-down versions of characters. They gave us Menat in her place, no matter how bad she is when you consider her “role” in the story. They make radical changes when they bring back old characters and that’s reason enough not to want Rose in this game.

There’s no way that was a coincidence. Pretty sure Max was told what was coming.

He did everything to make Capcom look good; probably paid by Capcom.

Stop talking shit.

Max LOVES Shotos and has been fangirling for them since the beginning of time. If anything he has been critical of Capcom’s SF5 at various points in its history, but when they get it right he gives them their due.

Too much of a coincidence he said he wanted a ‘crazy shoto’ exactly before the video that was going to introduce a ‘crazy shoto’ (and pretty much would come along with big backlash).

How does anyone still think Capcom is in financial trouble? Monster Hunter World is one of the best selling games of this year. They’ve been rolling in dough.

This “Capcom is in financial issues” argument I see is so wrong. You’d right if this was the SFV launch period because Capcom actually did have some financial issues but they bounced back, they’re probably just applying their money to different things like what others on this thread have previously said.

The “UGHHH NEENTEENDOO NEEDS TOO BAI STEET FAITA AND CAPCOM!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!” crowd need to go away TBH.

Even back then I didn’t think Capcom was in financial trouble. At the time they invest money on the construction of two commercial office buildings so they can hire more in-house devs and Resident Evil 5 and 6 were still selling despite how much fans of that series liked to shit on it. That’s not actions of a broke publisher.

I never said Capcom was broke, if anything they’re back to 1995-2005 levels of financial power.

Spot on.

The dlc financial model in SFV was a success. That probably be adopted by other games. The initial sales was flop but the dlc probably earn a lot.

First time i ear about that

I will actually welcome it to happen, and i’m not even a Nintendo player atm

Capcom isn’t lacking budget. The people working on Street Fighter V might be lacking budget, though. As you say, Capcom has different priorities when it comes to investment. But that doesn’t mean that the individual departments and projects might not be given very restrictive purse strings.

As for Capcom as a whole, the idea that Capcom might currently have money troubles comes from the misinformation spread by Capcom itself, where it constantly complains that even its successful games are selling below expectations. Which happens because their expectations aren’t particularly grounded in reality, and are instead built on assumptions like “sequels will sell more”. That, and that like many other AAA publishers, what Capcom really cares about is pleasing stockholders, and pleasing stockholders requires producing ever-increasing profits. (Not just creating profits, you have to always be creating greater profits.)

It’s unlikely for nintendo, chances are Disney(which is meh also), others would be Sony, SQenix, WB and EA

Same here.

A lot of people in general seem to think Capcom is only Street Fighter. They had the best selling game of 2018 and have 2 potential GOTY candidates coming in 2019. The Street Fighter IP isn’t going anywhere.

Max has been begging for this since season 1. He didn’t know it was coming.

No way in hell I want nintendo to buy capcom.

Namco merging with Bandai did give them access to a lot of money and IP’s that Capcom touched before like Jojo’s.

Who said they were in financial trouble?

Neither Star Wars nor Marvel were going under when Disney bought them.

Sometimes you just sell out to a larger company because the money’s right.

Nintendo needs dem 50 new Capcom characters for Smash 6, and eventually it just gets easier to buy the whole company than license each franchise separately!
