Well according to Daigo the best Guy in the whole wide world was doing it to me (NOX2). It was not me messing up my timing or anything since I was trapping Dudley and other characters the match before. I know we are talking about Bison but I wanted to turn to chun Li for a sec. I know ima chun user but it’s different when your on the recieving end, seems like my bushin throw and command throw can’t seem to catch Chun’s neutral jump HK. A player was abusing it on wake up. After a knock down I neutral jump so if they SBK I can counter with d mp or wait and Bushin throw her recovery. But this guy just ups and HK, even when I expect it my grabs just miss and I get smacked. Whats a better way to anticipate the neutral jump or beat it cold blooded? It will help me againts my best charaacter.

It’s 100% true. St. MK is mad good against Bison now.

I know I haven’t updated the thread in quite some time, so I’ll definitely do that when the new year rolls along. so st. forward works against bison’s scissor pressure now. what about if bison does st. rh after a blocked scissor? will it beat that out too or trade? i know there’s more pushback on bison’s scissor so he can’t cr. short xx scissor again… if st. forward works to stop it… what about cr. forward? i know cr. forward can tag bison’s st. rh too, will it also beat the cr. short xx scissor? i know it’ll beat another follow up scissor by itself. basically what i’m asking is will cr. forward beat st. rh, scissor, and cr. short xx scissor?

Incorrect, if you are starting up close with the scissor pressure you should tag him with another cr.lk (in previous match with dudley it worked perfectly) but thanks to st.MK being buffed you’re stuffed. st.RH is interesting to try, I’ll see how that goes, and will try st.LK>LK scissor as well.

I was a playing a decent Akuma just earlier and so many of my jump in’s were beaten clean by his crouching hard punch. I knew sakura’s anti-air was good, but Akuma too?

My elbow drop, Jump in HK, cross up MK, all beaten by one move. He didn’t even need to DP to beat my jump ins. It felt frustrating to be beaten by something like that, despite all the work I was putting in. Couldn’t even cross him up in the corner because of it. I can’t understand why they would give akuma such a good anti air, when the rest of his moves are already much better than most of the cast, if not all. On the other hand Guy’s cr.HP will get you combo’d more often - rather t than save you from air attacks. BAH.

I know you’re probably just venting, but everything you’ve mentioned is just a matter of comparing the hitboxes of both Guy and Akuma. Akuma’s cr.HP has a very high hitting box and has decent priority. On the other hand, Guy’s cr.HP simply doesn’t have the properties of a good anti-air, even though it can still be use situationally. To be totally honest…If your jumping in after untechable knockdowns…Akuma shouldnt really have many other options besides…Shoryuken>fadc Out…Or teleport. If Im correct, if you land a forward throw, and U either Dash Forward 2x, or Jump forward two times (mid screen)…Akuma cant do shit but teleport(which u can punish with run) or wall Jump Bait back into midscreen and punish. Or guess Shoryuken (waste two bars if he fails) Or sit there and block. Uh yeah if your jumping in for no reason at all…Its easy as hell to punish guys floaty ass jump…

EDIT: IE unless ur jumping over to guess fireball or something along those lines…You shouldnt Be jumping in at all…unless u land an untechable,or you KNOW your gonna hit something. Guy dosent have the best normals, but for the exception of a Few characters,if someone jumps at me with guy…Im anti-airing the same way.

He can cr.mk on wake up. His cr.hp also works surprising well in wake up situations.

ok…that dosent work for all of guys jump in options,after an untechable. Since technically You cant safe jump a shoto. Maybe ill have to test it more, though online is scrub city,ive never seen anyone do it. Even at NEC,I fought a few,none of them. But hey,whose to say they dont know the matchup,Alot of people dont. Ill have to test it. My bottom line is, U change the jump in with guy, mix in HK,Elbow ,crossup, i doubt most characters have an answer for every move with One button, just my two cents.But i could be wrong. Cause if I saw that shit,id Bait the Crouch heavy punch, make it whiff, and punish, Ive done it, and ive seen kiryu do it all the time.

Baiting the cr HP would be easier if Guy’s elbow drops faster - apart from empty jumping next to your oponnent (who expects an MK/HK) how else you gonna bait? I’ve scored an ultra1 on sakura this way while she was recovering from her cr.hp.

Perhaps neutral jumping next to your oponnent may be good bait as well, as they may expect the MK.

My question is…Ive run into a string of cammy’s lately,(the good ones) What in the hell can you do against her lol? A good cammy is mad safe, when shes on the offensive…U cant do shit…OS tech with Crouch mk and crouch mp…but then she can change the timing of her Cannon spike…Ull eat a CH all day…and get bodied,I find that matchup almost as bad as rog. cept when ur on the offensive cammy cant really do shit but guess.

I know what you mean about cammy. At first I tried playing defensive, trying to anti air her jump ins etc but I’d just get pressured and defeated in the end. Like you said, once you’re on the offensive on cammy, she can’t do much but block so you gotta make the most of it.

So now I try be offensive from the start. Her nerfs in AE should make her easier so even if I lose to them now, I try not to get too frustrated.

Thanks, but i try not to think about AE too much. The community is so split now cause of that whole fiasco, untill Ono comes out and announces a true release date, I play guy as if there is no AE ever coming to console. Im going to a few big tournaments this year including evo, and as far as i know, AE wont be played there. Guess Ill do what most people do, Find a Damn Sub, Cause in 2/3 Matches in a tournament against a cammy that knows what there doing…Youll need a secondary…thats my opinion.

Yeah with this version you definitely need a secondary if you’re a Guy player. I was just talking about online cammys and the frustration that can come with losing to them. I also plan to compete this year, with Guy alone. I know it’s taken me a long time to get good with Guy, and I assume it would with other characters too. If I ever did get a real secondary right now, it would be Ryu because of the simplicity, but even then I’m not going for it. It’s too time-consuming and I like the consistency you get with having one character.

In ranked recently, this high BP Ryu kept joining me, and it was obviously not easy, especially with Guy - I won some and he won some, until he started taking the lead and I just picked Ryu and beat him with his own character! That felt good.
