I used to think it was even untill I played MajorCrimson. He’s the only good Balrog I’ve played now (I used to think I played a few, but they didnt compare at all to him).
Me Against Rog.
Spam St hp and Cr mk until the round is over. yep
Yeah ive been playing against Crackfiend’s rog recently. reallly solid, but i still like the match for whatever reason…i know i shouldnt like it…but i do lol
Anybody here have experience fighting a good Sagat? All the ones I see on XBL I get the bushin flip on for free all match so I never really learn anything about fighting them.
GT: Ronnicle.
He’s like the best Sagat in Oregon. I play him a a bit whenevrr I get online.
I know a pretty good Sagat from SoVa, im not positive of his GT. Its something like ReS Excel or something…his name is Joe. He plays in the Peaceful Jay stream with me every once in a while. Hes got a really solid Fei Long as well, btw, you down to run some Vega matches tomorrow Shine ? Ill help you out with that matchup if youd like.
Vs Balrog
Standing Fierce beats all his jump-ins in my experience (noticed there wasn’t any info on that?)
I’d love to, should be alot of fun.
So what ultra would you guys use on FEi?
Im leaning towards U1 on this one.
I dont see a good setup with U2 against him. I can’t really tell the differences between the CWings
I’ve tried using st.HP a lot against his jump-ins, and I’ve had the opposite experience. Sure, once in awhile, I’ll beat a badly spaced jump-in attack. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
I’ve actually been leaning towards U1 against a lot of characters now. If you’re looking to punish his Chicken Wings with U2, don’t bother. Hypothetically, yes, U2 will punish LK and MK Chicken Wings on block, but I highly doubt you’ll ever find yourself in that position. Chicken Wing, in general, has so many active frames that Fei players can use to make the special move safe. Also, HK and EX Chicken Wings are already safe on block and can be combo-ed after into big damage on hit.
Blocked Rekkas, if I’m not mistaken, will always leave Fei at a range safe from Guy’s U2.
I’ve been using U2 in most match ups recently.I want to be able to execute that ultra well in high pressure situations so I need to improve my execution.
My problem with U2 is though, how useful actually is it in high level play? For example U2 is basically a huge punishment ultra,I use it on all shotos because of this,if I bait a DP then I get so much damage. But would a player like Daigo who uses Ryu to maximum strength ever throw out a DP without two bars to FADC?Then again you can just U2 their dash in after FADC.Hmmm,I suppose this Ultra is viable in high level play then.I’ve gotta learn to incorporate that into my game.
I have some tricks against the top tiered characters that is usable in high level play.
but I’m saving some of that for the tourney
Maybe I can make a video of all my setups in a bit.
That’d be nice. I’ve switched to U2 and I CAN use it offensively and not just as a punisher, it’s just a little hard b/c people are aware of it now. I like doing MP xx Run >> Stop >> U2, and I’ve landed that a few times in matches recently, but I’ve whiffed it WAY more often than not unfortunately. For focus happy opponents, I’ve done Down + MP >> U2 and nailed a few people, but that’s about it. I tried to steal Kiryu’s Run >> Slide whiff >> U2, but felt dirty doin it. >_>
in the ken matchup what our your options after eating a hurricane kick.sometimes the ken will uppercut sometimes grab other times reset with low shorts/jab. Looking for some infor for what to do in each situation is there any safe option?
backdash will beat all of his options unless he throws out another tatsu, step kick, or ultra 2, but in all sense of practicallity and probability, he will not do any of those things after connecting with a tatsu. just backdash, its the safest thing you can do and a lot of the time you can capitalize on a whiffed srk / throw
good lookin playboy
I got you lol
I plan on doing a lot of write-ups for Guy when he gets patched in mid-December. I’ll also be available on the PSN every weekend come December because I get weekends off from work, which is swell. :3 (not on the weekdays, though, because working full-time and being an actor kind of takes all the time out of your day)
I’m still planning on playing offline most of the time because I feel that is where skill is really put to the test. Fortunately, I know a good amount of people offline to play with that like to vary their characters (my room mate is a Cody/Guile/Akuma user for example; he’s planning on adding Guy to his repertoire because of how broken I make him look, though. Hahaha) If anyone on the PSN needs to get some warm-ups once the patch is released, feel free to let me know. God knows I’m going to need to adjust to all of the (good) changes being made to him.
tl;dr
I’m going to help out the community when the patch is released by contributing to the Match-Up section. herpderphurrr
Funny you should mention something like this, crouching medium punch is listed as an solid anti-air for a couple of match ups, and yet it seems to whiff more times than it works. I still go for it because if someone has had success with it, I do my best to learn the timing etc. It does work but not that often in other words.
It’s an timing/spacing issue for sure, as it works for me but unfortunately most skilled Boxer don’t bother jumping from that distance. I guess this is what you are referring to, and I agree.
Should have mentioned that it obviously doesn’t work for jump ins made from an distance, only when his jump arc is close to you. You can’t knock Boxer out of the air by hitting his fists, but rather his feet if that makes sense…
Some other options that work as AA:
Crouching Fierce (Clean hit)
Far Roundhouse (Knocks him out of the air clean)
Close Roundhouse (Same as above)
Close Standing Medium Punch (Works but trades often)
Close Standing Medium Kick(Works but might trade, didn’t test this enough)
Take it or leave it.
Damn, I sound so negative. Just trying to help.
The only one I’ve had any success with on that list is cr.fierce
On another note,U2 is definitely the ultra to use for this matchup. It kills safe jumping.
