The Suits Thread

Late post but:

This past episode was pretty well made. I know people are in love with Rachel, but I think I like Donna more. Next episode looks funny as hell. Judging from the previews, does that mean Mike knew he saw Harvey before, or was the angle not good enough to recognize him? Hilarious scene though.

Nah, probably just the usual cliche “We thought we met for the first time at so and so but it turns out we met before without recognizing each other etc.”

I think she doesn’t. This whole second season had the theme of not losing. Harvey never wants to settle, he wants to win. Better yet, he hates to “not lose”. He always wants to win, and constantly searches out scenarios in which he CAN win. However, this is where it all goes down as now they’ve reached a point where they can lose.

Actually, his job IS to settle. He just wants to have his clients take much better settlement offers than they’re usually given, and that’s his form of winning. It’s just this case where he didn’t want to because…well, he’s the client and fuck Tanner.

And I could see a loss, but the problem is if that Hardman takes over, Jessica and Harvey are out the door the second he has the opportunity. Because he likes Mike, he’ll keep him around but Mike would probably bail due to loyalty (and if not that, then Hardman probably finds out about the whole “not graduating from Harvard” thing and gets rid of him anyway). If a loss is gonna be taken, there has to be a way to do so without getting rid of the main characters. Just don’t know how yet.

  • Well this episode is a nice subversion on the usual Flashback episode. Gonna use today’s episode as a framing device for the flashbacks, nice.

  • Oh that’s right, 5 years ago…those damn Pats. 18-1 forever.

  • Okay, it’s only been 5 years, why does it look like everyone’s dressing like a hybrid of the 80’s/modern?

  • Man Mike seemed to be going nowhere in 5 years.

  • Louis, braces, really?

  • Mike met Jenny 5 years ago too?

  • Damn, Harvey got owned by Jessica.

  • Nice to see Trevor hasn’t changed in 5 years.

  • Was Louis always this easy to trick?

  • Louis is still eating there? Crap.

  • Dam, now I feel bad about Jenny.

  • Ugh, Hardman you’re such a snake. Knowing what we know makes me sick.

  • Damn, Trevor is Master Race of ruining shit. Because of the genius talk, he got snaked for nothing.

  • And now we know the motivation for Mike’s with the LSAT’s.

  • Shit, it’s not fun to see Jessica get played so damn easily.

  • Way to beat down that woman Mike…

  • Ah, Donna knowing everything. Everything feels right again.

  • OH SHIT, don’t tell me Monica…

  • Yep…fuck you Monica, fuck you forever.

  • Ah, it’s nice to see that asshole snake suffer, now for the present.

  • And Louis has finally stuck the knife in the back of everyone.

  • And now we know why Harvey had the day off today. 5 year anniversary of his father’s death. Sucks man, though I think it would’ve hurt harder had we had any mention of his father before hand.

  • Burn that bitch Jessica. Burn her in hell.

  • And Mike’s starting the usual of blowing his own shit up.

  • This just makes the Donna thing even sadder. Damn it…

  • Nice tribute.

  • Ooh, the Monica thing was a setup? Nice…

  • Donna’s return? lights the Maxx signal

– A solid episode. Mike’s flashbacks didn’t really do much though. Seeing Harvey and Jessica in the past was nice and Zoe’s connection.

– Two eps left, should be damn hectic. Louis is making Senior Partner and HE has the deciding vote? Welp, Jessica’s really screwed. Not that Louis doesn’t deserve to make Senior Partner, but obviously Hardman had this in the pocket for this situation and he was the surprise. Fuck…[/details]

Post above me was immaculate and covers everything, but I just have to add a hats off to USA’s casting team. They pick the best looking women for all their shows across board. The girl who played Jenny’s friend, (Monica I think?) was gorgeous and If I Mike would took that test for her without thinking twice and still tried to copulate on top of that.

No, Monica was Rachel’s friend, the one…

That was banging Hardman behind his wife’s back[/details]

Honestly, I forgot her friend’s name, I was too busy hoping she’d get stabbed.

I really don’t like Zowie so far. The way she always seems to think she knows whats best for Harvey annoys me. Telling anyone how to mourn is inexcuseable imo and she could have waited until later to drop the news she’s leaving. Not liking what I’ve seen from her in recent episodes.

Mike’s backstory was lame compared to the rest of the show but it did set up his great line about learning to play dirty without Harvey. I was surprised to see that Jessica once looked up to and even reveared Hardman so intensely. You could tell it was hard for her to accept her mentor was a scumbag but she got over it quick like the beautiful beast she is.

Great episode, I wish this show was on HBO instread of that shitty Newsroom show so we could have the stories fully embrace their seedy nature. I feel like this show would never go stale if they didn’t have to deal with USA restrictions.

Suits - S2 E8

Spoiler

Great episode tonight with the whole ‘then and now’ theme utilizing the present time and the events from five years ago.

Mike, you had Jenny, but she got scooped by the anchor that is Trevor.
Kinda interesting to see that he was initially scouted for his smarts to do the substitute LSAT testing by Jenny’s roommate and prompted to do so because his grandmother’s situation.

Jessica can be compassionate but when it’s business she doesn’t mess around.
You can see it in action with the whole deal ‘before and after’ concerning Hardman and dealing with Monica after the fallout.

Hardman though, that guy is a piece of work.
No wonder he hates Harvey; Hardman got antagonized by Harvey back then and at Alicia’s (Hardman’s wife) funeral and wake.
Besides dealing with his wife’s situation, he was probably holding that in that anger from when he was usurped from his position at the firm by Jessica and Harvey, five years ago.

It was nice to see Donna in prime form again, even if it was in a flashback-esque form.
The meeting with Rachel was funny.
lol @ “You’re weird. Let’s be friends.”

Louis…

  • Braces, really?
  • Still stalking Monica at your ‘lunchtime sanctuary’, really?
  • Telling Hardman about stuff you’ve ‘observed’, not surprised.
    Bad, Louis. Bad.
Stay off of Jessica’s office couch and out of other people’s business.

Harvey’s statement to Jessica at the beginning of the episode was pretty boss.
The moment he got the news about his father when he was celebrating his upgrade in status at the firm was a bit sad.
The sequence of Harvey’s scenes throughout the episode leading up to the tribute was a nice touch.
Though the timing of the personal event somewhat coincides with the happenings at the firm, it was interesting to see Harvey have a moment to himself outside of the office.

Harvey and Donna… so good together.
The dialogue in some of their scenes is fun to listen to.
lol @ the ‘ritual’ being brought up again, which apparently involves a can opener and lots of thumbtacks?

Go get Donna, Harvey.
Bring her back home.

Donna <3

I’ll say it again…

Gonna enjoy the rest of the season, next year feels like someone who Mike took the test for is coming around. which could be shit

But I like the improv ending, I’m getting Donna back.

That sort of reminds me though. Not a lot of series like to show their full season all in one go. Usually there’s a Mid-Season finale or some type of breakup of the type to elongate it and make the breaks seem not as long. Suits, we got our entire season right away, then had to wait a year.

What do you guys think is the best way to go about showing a season of any series?

what if he has to fight against someone he passed the bar for? He must have taken it a few times a year for the last 5 years. Gotta pay for granny’s daycare.

I don’t care for the zoey character at all. That and the real world chick that plays her is the worst actress on the show. Donna is the bestest though.

Zoe I didn’t mind in her first appearance, thought she was interesting. Now she’s just pushing annoying.

But being the worst actress on the show…well, compared to what’s on the show, it’s not that much of an insult lol.

what are you talking about? every other actor plays their character awesomely. i believe harvey, i empathize with donna, when zoe is on screen it breaks my engagement with the show.

That’s what I’m saying. Considering what she’s going up against, she never really had a chance to begin with.

ok i misunderstood. i thought you meant like “everyone on the show sucks anyways so her sucking isn’t a big deal”

Zoey just seems like a know it all bitch to me. It’s the character that bothers me not her acting. If shes supposed to be a uppity bitch then she’s doing a great job.

If I’m suppose to like her then yes she is the worst actress on the show.
