The Street Fighter V Lounge: We all gotta chill 'til the end of April

Gold and Ultra silver is still generally ass. Think of those ranks as Silver Elite[Master] for CSGO.

I rather play Yakuza 0 and Revelator training mode, than fucking around in this game until big QoL changes are out for SFV, which at this point, I’m not very enthusiastic about them ever happening.

In SFIV P2 had the ability to rematch or return to character selected. -_-

Only reason I bought platinum is because I did not play Diamond or Pearl.

BW2 is actually very different though. BW2 is a sequel, not an expansion. It takes place two years after BW1. The protagonists are different, the hometown is different (you start in west Unova instead of east), there are new towns and cities and three gym leaders were replaced. Team Plasma is totally different and are straight up savages now. You can also catch old Pokemon from previous generations. Wild Eevee is also a thing.

Those elemental weirdos, Lenora and Brycen aren’t even Gym Leaders anymore. They were replaced by Cheren who went from rival to normal type Gym leader, and two new characters. Roxie, a poison type specialist and Marlon, a water type specialist. It’s really, really, really different. Instead of making a third version they extended the 5th generation with a sequel.

Finally a game with worse netcode than SFV lul

Sooooooooo capcom never fixed the rookie ranked glitch? Happen to me earlier twice smh wtf do they do when the server goes offline for half the damn day

I am not playing SFV seriously again until they dramatically improve CFN and the servers. I thought everything would come with Kolin, but I guess they need something to fill the March gap.

SFV feels like a double spaced, large font essay designed to mislead you about the amount of content.

Capcom can’t fix fuck all.

They need to hire purbeast.

Anyway, don’t worry. The Switch is likely going to be able to play Gamecube games. Melee will able to be played on Switch. Melee will be the main tournament game from now on. Mwahaha

Oh I saw that volume shit on another game. Can’t remember which one but it pissed me off.

Als damn that netcode, clearly they don’t do this with esports in mind, Ubisoft is not into that

USF2 is gonna sell more than SF5 at this rate. First person hadoken mode, color edit mode, still has arcade mode, and it probably has real tutorials, etc…

SFV neutral with it’s low active frames, input lag, stubby normals, slower movement speeds, unreliable AA, whiff punishing issues; All contribute to a weak Neutral. Then we have CC (easier counter hit converting to combos.) Priority system and hence when in range to throw your best poke which happens to be a med attack and someone is in range has a crush. At least allow it to trade. Fast jump ins and dashing. No proximity normals allowing for combos from further away. Lots of +frame buttons. All of this can come from/lead to guesses that become so punishing.

Setplay meaty mix-ups being so strong from a knockdown. Very little defensive tools, gray health and low stun bar further enhancing it. S2 has tried hard to force neutral. A huge amount of the changes were directed to it, yet we still wanna get in on their asses and mash + frame buttons. Because the odds are in your favor in read options and coming out on top. Lots of failed reads can lead to resetting to neutral and you not taking damage as the one on offense.

Many reliable AA’s can convert into meaty instead of resetting to neutral. Corner carry being so strong.
Unreliable V-reversals. Meaty’s counter them hard. Many are not equal, when you have Nash being easily punished by anyone. Yet Cammy also switches sides & hits you while being safe even on block. At the same time certain characters rely heavily on the same resource (V-trigger.)

Then we have things like severely nerfed fireball game. Slower recovery, Juri & Dhalsim’s changed, Akuma not being able to jump back fireball (outside of trigger.) And characters in general losing the ability to jump back and use specials. Lots of moves outright avoiding fireballs. Majority of V-skills alone bypass them.

Juri is such a strange design for example. She will never be top tier cause she requires safely charging her moves just to do decent shit, meanwhile sacrificing the pressure that SFV enforces. Another is Akuma losing a huge amount of his strength in demon flip vortex, jump back fireball/cyclone, dive kick, reversal. Then he has incredibly stubby normals so he can’t even compete that well with C.MK into fireball. His offense or control isn’t top tier yet he has low health. It’s this weird thing where they take away all your defensive options, than they take away your offensive options.

Lots of shit doesn’t make sense. Simply put the best scenario for you is almost always mashing +frame button mixups & setplay.

What is this? I don’t play CS. Is it like “kinda know the game but not really” ?

BTW the curve of player skills in SFV is completly fucked, legit on Steam only 7% of players have the gold achievement. I don’t think Capcom can do much about this one, probably it’s the nature of SF but damn.

Were you trying to see how many things you could be wrong about in one post?

Because all of this reads like SF5 is your first fighting game.

The more I read about Ultra SFII the more I question SFV’s current state

  • Ultra has Arcade from the get-go, but SFV is still missing it 1 year later
  • Ultra has SFIV’s BP/PP based multiplayer but SFV is using a shitty LP system that doesn’t even work properly
  • Ultra has color edit mode, but SFV doesn’t have one even though we know Capcom knows how to implement this in a 3D game
  • Ultra has a Buddy Battle (dramatic battle from Alpha) mode, but SFV is stuck with the shitty ass Survival mode
  • Ultra has a Spider chart that will eventually fill in, but SFV’s spider chart doesn’t do jack shit
  • Ultra is coming out as a complete package (albeit slightly inappropriately priced), while SFV has two Season Passes that don’t even include the entirety of DLC that Capcom releases over the course of the year

like…why?

While I agree with a lot of this, the main reason is that USF2 is reusing a vast majority of its assets and gameplay. There’s still a chunk of work but considerably less than it was for SF5.

Why the fuck do people care about color edit mode so much? Do you really want those shitty ass fucking neon colors and ugly combinations clogging up your screen? Did you play sf x t? Between the gem flashing and the custom color monstrosities people made up yeah… No fucking thank you.

I love sf5 but damn the online is annoying, an I do think the bp/pp are better than just lp an a rank metal at least it keep low/casuals kinda playing I remember seeing like a top 10bp rose in sf4 an saw the pp were around 1.5k but at least it probably gives casuals a reason to play rank or the game at all.

Whats the theory behind no KO from chip damage??

Balrog can have one pixel left but if he has full VT you still scared even if you have 80% health.

Making the game easy for beginners and forcing people to land a clean hit. If you’re gonna kill somebody by chip, you have to “commit” all of your resources to do it.

Basically a lot the stuff happens because you deal grey damage with normals. If that wasn’t the case then you could have death by chip damage back.

Still suck.
