The Street Fighter V Lounge: Tron Bonne rumored as DLC

Inb4 spain isn’t mexico. Lmao

I think it is noticeable enough how everyone is better at whiff punishing now than before. I don’t know if it is because of the reduction in input lag or if people are simply more accustomed to the spacing in the game now.

It is probably a bit of both.

Pretty much came to the conclusion today playing that there’s no reason to play this game online if you want to be good at it. It’s so far from the actual real game it’s not funny.

I’ve pretty much joined the spastic online club now, smash shit - jump around - press crush counter buttons.

I’ll play you.

So it’s not just me good. I thought it was just my bias that had me thinking MKXL and Skullgirls were better online.

SFV when playing on cross platform against PC players is especially fucking obnoxious; feels like everytime I would get a confirm shit would stutter or something. And at times the games against PC players would be perfect then just stutter randomly even in neutral, then be fine for a while, then stutter again.

I can only play SFV with 5 bars only as connection settings, any thing else is unplayable. Even then you have to worry about assholes playing on PC while downloading porn or whatever the fuck programs they might have in the background on their computers fucking shit up.

/rant 95% of time I have no problems so I shouldn’t complain at all but it is annoying as hell when it happens.

shouldnt that be our decision?
when i get no matches while i seek for 5 bars only its then up to me to either
go to lobbies or expand my seek range to 4-5 bars.

when i seek 5 bars then i expect to get real 5 bars and no fake ones just so that matchmaking feels faster.
i doubt that thats the reason behind its behaviour…i think its just broken.

same here and i already accepted that i wait longer due to my 5 bar restriction. its just very…very frustating to get then matched against countrys where you already
know beforehand that the match will be fucked up. or get opponents who cause input delay and or warpings.
thats not what i waited for and what the game should offer as the best you can get in term of what the search filter allows you to setup.

i think a country filter would help alot to improve at least the mm system.

I disagree. There are plenty of online warriors who have performed well live. That said, there are a few advantages to live play such as collaboration and running long sets while discussing strategy and getting advice that you just can’t get from the online world.

It’s more than just playing online, it’s also about practicing a lot in training to optimize punishes, timing, and spacing.

You can practise stuff, but I’ve been coming up against a lot of Diamond players recently and its the same shit - like I’ll give you an example - If I know when you do frame kills ( and I know the frame kills) its a perfect meaty - I wont push buttons - because thats the smart thing to do, but online the mentality is more like - I think he might fuck this up so I’ll press something and it doesn’t matter if you hit them with it before.

It’s an online mentality. I’ve actually spoke to a lot of offline tourney players, they say the same thing, they just fuck about online doing jump ins and random shit, because the game is too tight to be played online unless you get a 100% perfect conn.

It’s ok for fucking around. I play a Diamond ranked Sim player, he doesn’t know frame data and he doesn’t know that he can take turns after a move that’s minus on block. That’s the kinda shit this game is breeding. The dudes in the top 500. Just amazing to me that you can be really effective at this game online whilst being completely ignorant to how any of it works.

i wouldnt avoid online complete.
use the lobbie feature and play against people you “know”.
when you have a local scene with which you can play regulary then…
yeah, you dont need online.

fuck ranked and casual…

Must be bronze

I play only lounge for this reason, I only go to ranked once I feel like I am good enough to get to the next rank easy because your rank kinda decides who you get in lounge.

Even if you play an “online warrior”, I guess I am one myself tho, I think you can still learn stuff in long sets or multiple sets. People in lounge mostly have this will to get better I feel, in ranked they just want to win, at least at my level.

I’ve got about 8000LP and I’ve had that since June. I’m playing Ranked for the first time tonight for an extended period. It’s terrible.

ANyway fuck points.

You are in Australia right? I wonder if any other game have "good " performance over there since I assume most connections would be on the rough side.

Well with regards to the frame kill thing, I won’t press buttons necessarily becaus I think someone will fuck up, I press buttons because I think they will frame kill>throw instead of frame kill>meaty

I mean, just because someone is doing a frame kill doesn’t mean they are just going to not throw.

An example is with my urien bnb, I can dash cr.lk frame kill then Fmp and it will beat both quickrise and backrise 3 frame cr.lp with the same timing… However if I throw instead, it will do a throw that will hit, instead. Same frame kill, different options.

I mean you can’t just expect people to just block all the time and met you throw them…

But I agree that online is different especially in bad connections. You can’t hear your opponents buttons/see their body language right next to you. The input lag can vary wildly during the course of a round, the lag doesn’t always affect both players equally etc.

I just try to play less laggy games, that’s all one can do really besides getting offline meets together. Hopefully capcom comes through with a netcode improvement along with the balance changes.

That’s how ‘simple’ design forces the top tier level of play to be. The fewer elements there are to playing a game at high level, the more necessary it becomes to have an absolute mastery of each of those individual elements. Frame data is probably a lot more important in SFV than it ever was in SF4.

Hey @Plaid_Unicorn. Good to see you again, you had me worried for a while there

Highland and I live in the same city but our connect to each other blows monkey nuts so I’m waiting till I get Australia’s new broadband service to really take to online again.

Having said that, overwatch is decent most of the time and skullgirls is stellar.
But skullgirls netcode is premium A+ stuff.

Ba, I’m just having one of those why the fuck is everyone doing stupid shit moments. I guess that’s the game though in scrub land.

I did play a really good Balrog tonight though, I can see why it could be hard for Ryu. But I still think it might be even.

@Twinblades you gonna let him talk about one of your heroes like that?

Yawn* sounded like he tried too hard for controversy there, not buying it, anyways.
