The Street Fighter V Lounge: Tron Bonne rumored as DLC

Exactly. Overheads are dangerous in that game. the first couple of months were so tough because I had to figure which string led to the overhead and when to block high and low.

I don’t understand. Seeing someone relay heavily on a move makes them easy pickings for me.

Well, it’s mostly a result of completely removing the left-right blocking dynamic, so they had to do something to allow people to open their opponents up.

I don’t know about MKX, but GG it’s like that, once someone gets in on you, it feels like you’re about to get raped.

Unless it’s karins st mk

Injustice has left-right blocking and still has MK strings.

Current state of Capcom Pro Tour - as of October 25th, 2016

We’ve reached a major milestone! Last weekend marked the conclusion of Ranked events this season, which means that all the Regional Leaderboards across 4 regions of Capcom Pro Tour are locked in and shall not change until the 2017 CPT Season begins.

Because of that, this means that the 14 spots for each of the 3 remaining Regional Finals’ spots are locked in as well, so now we just wait for how the Last Chance Qualifiers are going to pan out

First up - Online CPT Asia #2

  • MOV takes 1st place, which earns him 128 CPT points, and puts him at 10th place on the Asian Regional Leaderboards and 8th place on the Global Leaderboards. It’s interesting that prior to this win, he barely had any points in the Asian Region, which I guess only means that the region is in need of additional CPT events, and hopefully Capcom considers that next year.

  • This win also pretty much solidifies MOV’s position on the Global leaderboards as a player that qualifies into Capcom Cup this way, and given how there’s only one Point-rewarding event left - he isn’t getting kicked out of the Top-14 scoring players no matter the result of Canada Cup

  • Chris Wong has an outstanding perfomance in this event, eliminating arguably two of the strongest players in the Asian region: NL from South Korea, and Tokido from Japan. His 2nd place finish earns him 64 CPT points, which puts him just outside Top-16 in this region. Sadly, because this was his essentially only major result in this season, he won’t qualify into Capcom Cup as he doesn’t have enough Regional Points, and he isn’t qualified for the Regional Finals either. Hopefully he’ll get in via Last Chance Qualifier there

  • NL, one of the strongest Ryu players in the world, takes 3rd place which earns him 32 CPT points. Much like Chris Wong, he isn’t qualified for neither Capcom Cup nor the Asian Regional Finals, but there’s still a chance we’ll see them both there if they get in via Last Chance Qualifier, especially since NL is Korean and that’s where the RegFinals will take place next month

  • Tokido, who finished 4th, earns 16 CPT points, which… well, it basically changes nothing, as he still stands strong at the second spot in the Global Leaderboards. His Gatekeeping mission has, alas, failed. Still a rather strong perfomance as usual, and I can’t wait to see his results at Capcom Cup this year

  • Poongko and Xyzzy, both of whom earned only 8 CPT points, finished at 5th and 6th place respectively, and their results are not good enough to qualify into Capcom Cup at this given moment. It’s also rather surprising that despite numerous Poongko’s showings at various CPT events over the course of the year - he doesn’t have enough points to qualify neither via the Global nor Asian Regional leaderboards, and that’s after his amazing perfomance at Japan Cup back in September. Much like Chris Wong and NL, I expect both Poongko and Xyzzy to show up at the Regional Finals in November

  • John Takeuchi has a rather unsuccessful CPT weekend yet again, and he loses another chance at qualifying into Capcom Cup by finishing at 15th place. As of now, things are looking rather grim for him, but he still has at least 4 opportunities for qualification. I’m not entirely sure which one is more plausible to happen, but I’ll list them either way

    1. John wins Canada Cup this week, which will automatically qualify him into Capcom Cup directly, though given the list of killers coming to that event, chances are he might not even get to the Top-8. Pretty much it’ll entirely depend on his bracket and the overall tournament progress

    2. The winners of Canada Cup, North American RegFinals, Latin American RegFinals, and Asian RegFinals open up enough Global spots, which results in getting Chris Tatarian (who is currently 11 points behind CCL, the last qualifying player via Global leaderboards) into Capcom Cup and freeing up a spot on the North American Regional Leaderboards

    3. In a possible combination with 2), Ricki Ortiz places at least 2nd at Canada Cup, which would put her right above Go1 at the 17th place, thus allowing to John join XsK_Samurai as the Top-2 scoring players on the North American Regional Leaderboards and qualify into Capcom Cup via Regional points,

    4. John Takeuchi goes to the North American Regional Finals and takes 1st place, which would also directly qualify him into Capcom Cup, akin to winning a Premier event

  • Everybody else who finished in the Top-16 either doesn’t get nowhere near qualifying into Capcom Cup via points, or has their current Regional and/or Global ranking unchanged (e.g. Go1, who earned mere 2 CPT points)

Next - FV Cup

  • Sako, who finally wins a somewhat stacked tournament this season (especially after his amazing matches at European Regional Finals), earns very important 128 CPT points, thanks to which he rises up in the Asian Regional leaderboards, overtaking Tse4444, who was second highest-scoring non-qualified player in the region pretty much since the middle of summer, and puts Sako at a total of 137 points (just 5 points ahead of Tse4444!)

  • Thanks to this win, Sako is qualified for Capcom Cup via Regional points, and unless Go1 and/or Mago are somehow kicked out of the Global Leaderboard qualifiers, Sako is locked in for the qualification, since his Regional ranking will remain unaltered. Because there is still a threat of him not getting in and given how many points Go1 and Mago have, I would say that the chances for his qualification are currently 70-30 in his favor, as I highly doubt that CCL or Filipino Champ can earn enough CPT points at Canada Cup to keep themselves safe from elimination

  • Sako is now also qualified for the Asian Regional Finals, and if he wants to 100% secure his position in Capcom Cup - he might as well go there

  • Kazunoko, despite his finish at 2nd place and earning 64 CPT points, actually advances high enough in both Asian and Global leaderboards. This solidifies his Asian ranking even further (putting him at 4th place in the Region), AND makes him a highly plausible pick for qualification into Capcom Cup via Global points alone. He’s currently at a total of 349 points (which is 48 points behind CCL)

  • Even if his Global ranking remains unchanged - there’s a very high chance that he gets into Capcom Cup based on the results of remaining events alone, as the winners of Canada Cup as well as 3 Regional Finals are pretty much guaranteed to open up additional Global qualifying spots (for example - in the Asian Regional Finals, 13 out of 14 players have already qualified via one of the available methods), and if Kazunoko prefers to get in via Global points - he needs to place 3rd or higher at Canada Cup (which would get him 64 Points, and land him right above FChamp and CCL)

  • Humanbomb finishes 3rd and earns 32 CPT points. Nothing really major, although he did land within the Top-16 on the Asian Regional Leaderboards. Sadly he hasn’t qualified for the Regional Finals either, but I assume there’s a very high chance we’ll see him enter the Last Chance Qualifier there.

  • Yukadon, who currently sits at 24th place on the Global leaderboards, finishes 4th at FV Cup and earns 16 CPT points. Again, not much, but it also brings him a little closer to being qualified into Capcom Cup via Global points. Much like Kazunoko, he sits rather close to CCL (and he and Kazunoko are just 3 points apart!). Also, just like Kazunoko, Yukadon is qualified for the Asian Regional Finals, so even if he doesn’t get into Capcom Cup via points, he still has a chance of doing so via Regional Finals

  • Bonchan, who I think struggled the most not just during CPT but in this game in general, and after getting so far into the tournament at European Regional Finals, has only managed to finish 5th at FV Cup. This earns him mere 8 CPT points, and sadly isn’t enough to get him anywhere near Capcom Cup. At this point, his only options are Canada Cup and the Asian Regional Finals (for which he, by the way, isn’t qualified either), and I’m 100% sure we’ll see him in the Last Chance Qualifier. And who knows, he might even visit other Regions for this specific purpose. We’ll see

  • Tse4444, who up until this last weekend was a highly plausible pick for those who qualify into Capcom Cup, has finally been dethroned by Sako, who overtook Tse4444 by just 5 points!. From what I’ve seen, I would say that Tse is a rather strong player, and if he went to more CPT events in the Asian regions - who knows, he might’ve actually earned enough points to secure his position in the Capcom Cup by now. As it stands now, his only hope of getting into Capcom Cup is winning Asian Regional Finals (for which he qualified by winning the Well Played Cup earlier this summer), as I doubt he’ll be travelling to any other Regions (which was also proven by his absence at nearly every other Ranking CPT event this season)

  • Everybody else in the Top-16, much like the Online Event, is either not qualified for Capcom Cup or has their Rankings unchanged by the results of this event

As a bonus, since this week not only Canada Cup is happening but also the Latin American Regional Finals are also taking place from October 29th through November 2nd, let’s take a look at who’s qualified for them.

Bear in mind two things:

  1. Some of the qualified players may or may not attend this event, especially if they are going to Canada Cup,
and 2) the Regional Finals still have two spots left for those who get in via the Last Chance Qualifier, so we might see some unexpected attendees at this event, most likely from other regions as well

I like Tekkens style more. Highs whiff on crouch block but you cant block mids when crouching. I really like it though because King/Armor King have baller tick throws off of D/F+1.The main reason it’s good in general though is because unlike overheads in SF their not gimped pokes used to deal age. Their fucking regular pokes that just happen to hit mid.

This is mostly gone with the latest patch. Almost all overheads have been made much slower.

Isn’t this how fighting games have always worked, though? I mean, it’s not like this is the first game in which a character has a really good button they use in neutral all the time because it leads to big damage if it hits.

Told you
Bronze cammy

Chris T isn’t going to LATAM Regional finals, Julio is already in and so is Kusanagi so surprisingly I think the spot goes to 4th place SD Ilija.

Same with FChamp, his spot will go to MJ|Gama.

on a side note look at this BS. Look at what would be overheads in SF

When does T7 drop again? I want to really try and get into but I may need to just solely play in order to get decent.

Neither is Justin Wong

The sad thing about this is that he clearly thought it through. And still posted that.

So basically each of Akuma’s buttons in T7 is an overhead?

early 2017
whatever that means.

at the end i dont care…let them take theire time.
no one needs a second sfV beta release…

Considering the arcade version of Tekken 7 is already more complete than SFV was at launch it shouldn’t be a problem.

Only so strong coming from me though as SFV was already 99 percent complete for me when they put in Chun with 3S buttons and made her high tier. It is now 100 percent fully complete after adding Ibuki. Thank you.

In tekken though your mostly blocking high and looking for the low, and most of Akuma’s moves hit high or mid so it makes sense.
