I don’t understand how people are always logged in, but Capcom can’t make their names and flag to appear when you turn match request on. If it did, we could have an “any rank” option on casuals, and don’t play bronzes if you want. But I guess Capcom is just not fond of good people fighting bronzes and getting fight money easily.
I actually liked old match making where it would throw you into the fire against any and every one. I miss when the server used to be like: Oh he’s diamond and you’re super silver? I wish you good luck, motherfucker!
Not only did I get matches faster, i had more fun fighting stronger opponents. I also loved getting hatemail from bronze scrubs calling me a masher after I frame trap them. That was pretty entertaining.
So I decided I was going to level up my PS4 account at the end of S1, and discovered that I both did not fight a single 2.5k+ person until I hit 3.5k, and I mostly fought people around 500 or less. The matchmaking is wack until you hit Ultra Silver.
Fighting bronze players is the WORST for fight money if you’re high rank, as you get something pitiable like 5 points for winning but kiss hundreds of points goodbye if you lose.
That said I agree that we should have an optional higher/lower rank search filter, as it worked just fine in 4. I think one of the coolest things about the FGC is that people at hugely different skill levels play each other all the time. You don’t really see that in other modern competitive games (partly because they are team-based, and partly because the lack of an offline scene makes it easy to shelter yourself from other skill brackets).
Hell fucking no. Do you know how lame it was to fight legions of bronze and silver? I used to get one person my rank for every five bronze. The matches were not even fun because it was so one-sided.
