Crappy and cheap I get but I wouldn’t call it unimaginative. You don’t end up with 92 pages of patch nerf notes due to a lack of creative ways of fucking over characters in an already pretty straightforward game. Also, the frames thing is just how Capcom, for some reason, seems to approach a lot of adjustments. They tweak the startup and/or active and/or recovery data but don’t actually change the animation to match. This is probably one of main reasons why it took people 6+ months to figure out how to punish DP FADC in USFIV.

I’m far from an akuma fan, but I actually like this design. The lava effects and lions mane are pretty cool.

I think he’s good still. The nerfs are felt most when you go to punish certain moves. Birdie ex headbutt in v trigger used to be a sweep. Doesnt reach now. Used to have pretty generous spacing to sweep laura fireball and guile v skill. Cant do that any more. You also have to relearn all your stand lk punishes. Its shorter but they also changed the pushback on block on a lot of the moves you used to punish with it.

On the plus side counter hit confirms and single hit confirms from stand mp got way easier. Counter hit stand mp point blank links to back roundhouse. Crouch mp might be a better counter poke button even tho its slower. And im pretty sure you can hit confirm back roundhouse to dp on hit or fireball on block to negate the -2 on block nerf.

He obviously wont see competitive play with his two reps jumping to new top tiers but i think he has plenty of viability.

Fighting all these Akumas is so fun. Landing a high damage combo shreds like half his life with Necalli. Dude is made of paper.

I was already good at counter hit confirms with st.mp so that doesn’t really change much for me. I don’t think Daigo and Tokido switching will single handily make Ryu players drop him, they’ll probably drop him because his archetype is invalidated in the overall game. His strengths are limited now.

Too early for me to tell. I’ve not had a single game in the half hour I switched it on…
