You can record the dummy to do wake up reversal jabs. Work on your oki. Granted some characters are designed not to get any oki. Their KDs don’t give enough frame advantage

Highland, have you watched Damdai play sfv at all? Plenty of zoning. Good zoning heavy Ryu to watch. Opposite of how fourwude plays.

I knew it would turn out this way. Bigger emphasis on throwing out medium and heavy normals is very much like the older games and the crush counters can make those heavies lead to stupid damage. The new stun system lets stun be much more prevalent in matches and really works well for characters that have hard knockdowns on their supers. Get the person nearly stunned, then combo into super to do a bunch of damage. Afterwards dash up or safe jump them into another hit or 2 and they are stunned with minimal scaling. Round is most likely over at that point. Super freezes the stun bar so you can carry that momentum into a stun.

It’s good to see characters like Bison, Sim and Vega actually be capable of coming back.

I like how they say that people let Dhalsim get away with a lot of shit.
That character is high tier no matter what.

Yeah I’m pretty decent at DPing the full screen stuff, I’ve not had much exposure to matches, just the grind so far.

Birdies EX “thing” that flys across the screen is quite hard to DP though, seems like he grabs you before he gets to you. I’ll check that guy out.

It helps to have a quick/light AA normal to deal with that Birdie jump grab. Don’t really think Ryu has anything good like that to AA it with. With Chun Li I just hit s.LK when I see/feel it’s coming.

Well you can just neutral jump his jump grab anyway. EX one is just hard to see

Birdie’s EX jump grab is hard to react to. It catches you from the air instead of the landing. It’s better to avoid it.

Empty jump into full punish is just as good as an AA.
Haven’t yet tried to stuff the EX jump grab, but Ryu stuffs that shit even with st. HP if it’s not EX.

Ryu has a 3 frame jab, right?
It’s his close jab in 3S.

Also back roundhouse is deceptively quick to start.
