Watched the end of that. He knew nothing about Karin, or about whiff punishing apparently. He eventually got so mad he cussed the viewers out for not getting a donation and turned the stream off. He used to talk so much shit about Max and his perceived greed and he literally told his stream to fuck off cause no one donated. He is selling shirts too btw. Get yours today
The annoying thing is the people that are in low 2000s are just good enough that when you’re playing Mika you have to be careful because she has tough matchups against common characters people play in that range like Ryu, Nash, and Karin. Then I want to rage quit when I do lose to some random bullshit. I actually have ragequitted but fortunately only twice so far. Not proud of it but MAN, This ranking shit is rough when people do that to you over and over…but then you eat the FULL LOSS when you lose.
The only thing keeping me sane through getting bodied and over and over is the idea that it’s all grist for the experience mill, and you’re always better off having played a bunch and lost than not having played I guess!
And man i think the rank system is kind of flawed. sometimes i get matched with a bronze/silver. Just because they are bronze doesn’t mean they are lesser skilled players. It could be Jwwongs 5th account or some good to pro player finally started up the rank. I will only win like 10-15 lp but if i lose i lose 160lp. So really, what incentive is it for me to play other than just being a waste of time? Risk losing nearly 160lp or win and get 10lp? Either let me win more at least 25 or put a cap at how much i lose. Like i should not lose 160 to a bronze, but they should for sure win that much i wouldnt mind losing around 75-95. But seeing triple digits then i get salty.
And it’s not very often i play people in my own rank. so i have to win like 4-6 games to even get back what i lost. Then the higher rank the more ragequiters you will come across. So your not even get any points for the WINS you do get.
Yeah I wouldn’t mind that, it’s just the randomness of ranked. I wish ranked was a best of 3 where you could get some reads before you figured out “oh this guy is super high ranked so you assume he’s not gonna wake up dp 6 times in a row…OH WAIT HE IS”
I love wake up dp because it feels like the great leveller - doesn’t matter how good you are, I’m forcing you to play rock paper scissors with me, and I bet you ain’t got my RPS tech!
The only problem with this is that it ignores the joy of fingers pressing buttons and the fun of doing technical things.
When there is no technical quality the game is just as lacking.
We have a fighting game which is built on this entire principle. I have played it. I played it for about 10 minutes, closed it and have not touched it since. It was not fun to me at all.
It’s not that we want people to fail inputs. We don’t want inputs to determine things either. What we do want is the enjoyment of physically interacting with an interface and mentally interacting with another person.
Sirlin is a smart successful guy but he’s just one person with one perspective.
As for intent and control scheme etc.
We choose a game partly based on control scheme.
A FPS controls different from an RTS which controls different from a fighting game, which controls different from Steel Battalion.
You made a choice. To blame interface is odd. You choose to play basketball and then blame the ball because you suck at dribbling? Alright.
