I dunno if it would be that futile, that 30th AC netcode is the real deal.

Characters like Morrigan and Mai were designed with fanservice in mind, but they still fit well within their games. Morrigan is a succubus in a fantasy monster world. Mai dresses in normal clothes except when she’s fighting, and arguably uses sexiness as a weapon. SF4 Juri honestly had a reasonable outfit compared to other fighters; it was SF5 that got a bit wonky before it was self-censored. (Though SF5 had a bigger weird fanservice offender with the original design for Laura’s assless pants.)
I’ve already said that Iroha isn’t that great a character design. Honestly, none of the characters introduced in SS6 are that great, or fit particularly well in the Samurai Shodown series. They are just weird ideas slapped together and thrown out in a non-canon “festival” game.
The only reason Iroha is popular is because the fanservice factor of her design was dialed up beyond 11. Fan service is her design.
Iroha herself wasnt’ the breaking point. Its making the jokes that put people on tilt.
Which is weird because everybody knows what she is. She is literally straight fanservice. But the twitter account should’ve been more professional about it. At least that’s the claim. Cracking jokes about your fanservice character being fanservice is bad.
Which we can only have one conclusion to: If we didn’t have twitter, this wouldn’t be an issue in the first place.

For whatever reason people prefer developers to have “plausible deniability” about their fanservice characters. Like if there’s an “actual reason” for it. But admitting to it is a big no no, which is why DOA got shat on for years.

DoA survives because there’s an audience of people who buy games for that. All their DLC is random costumes. But wait, there’s more. Let’s take a look at the Capcom Cup finals:

Its fucking dumb to get mad at that and let all this shit slide. GBVS is gonna come out with swimsuit outfits and people are gonna pretend it isn’t blatant pandering to a crowd; people will let other wack shit slide because so long as it isn’t advertised honestly.
Since those people spend money on all that nonsense, they’re just as legitimate a customer base as the people who don’t like any of it (me). So its w/e. Its all dumb and makes the scene look dumber for it.

Oh and BTW Iroha’s popularity is probably because SamSho always kinda lacked in terms of fanservice, but also because she was the 2nd best character in the game.

Is it bad that I didn’t mind any of the new characters in 6, with that specific one being my favorite? The game itself can go to hell.
Another win in Apex, I couldn’t buy a fucking win in Season 4 and now I already got 2 Wins, 1 2nd Place finish in Season 5 in like 10 games. Both wins ironically only with a squad of 2 essentially.

The point of my comment was that he was low utility compared to Wraith and Gibby. And it’s true. His buff is good for sure but nobody who wasn’t already using him is going to start because they shaved some time off of scan. Also finding people being important is a double edged sword for him, because his tac and ult literally do that for other teams. It doesn’t reveal your exact location like pre-range buff but it still gives them your general direction and completely eliminates your element of surprise.
@Illwill I actually main Lifeline these days (my typical rotation is Lifeline/Wraith/Bloodhound). Mirage rework is legit nice as fuck but it bugs me that another legend gets a buff to rez ability while they keep trying to turn my girl into a loot drone. Blue bin passive is nonsense. Not even just bad like a totally ill advised idea. Her ult is kind of sketchy too. If you have purple armor there is basically no point in dropping it. During armor LTM I basically never called it.
Speaking of armor LTM was the best thing to ever happen to the game.
Edit: I might put caustic back in my rotation that boy is nice af now. Also buffed my favorite gun the Sentinel so I’m loving the update.

Some people will tell you that video games “matured” and got rid of the “childish” stuff.
My take is that talks like that are the most immature shit ever, because there are few things more immature than being ashamed of one’s own childishness and getting rid of the stuff one’s enjoy. A person who’s actually matured isn’t going to feel ashamed because he likes immature stuff, and it takes a really immature person to try to shame other people for the stuff they enjoy.
C. S. Lewis has a good quote on that.
The last God of War game is cool though. Even with it being totally different from the old games I felt it still managed to be very respectful to what the series was and is. It just couldn’t fit a sex mini-game inside because it would have been totally retarded in the context of that game.
