Which makes absolutely no fucking sense then to suddenly be mad that the CORPORATE ENTITY which created the character, then modernize the look to be more fanservicy then suddenly has to pretend that this isn’t what they did.

As for Bea I think her main issue was about the fact that it was the official twitter that started making those jokes instead of random fans, which can come off as quite unprofessional and at least on that I can agree.
You’re also right that SNK would have been basically a bunch of hypocrites if they made a fanservice-y character like Iroha and then pretended to ignore the matter in the advertisement though.

That’s the problem. Its an official character, a legacy one now at that, that they brought into the new product. Why should they pretend their fanservice character isn’t?
You know who pretended their fanservice wasn’t fanservice? Capcom. So capcom is okay for pretending that the swimsuit outfits weren’t fanservice bullshit. But if you acknowledge that this is what you did before and are doing now, suddenly all these nerds are clutching their pearls.

TBF, SNK has not pretended that Iroha or other chars dont have fan service elements to them.
If anything. They only said “sorry” so the twatter mob stopped giving them flack.

I was agreeing with you on that. Personally I think that companies should just own up to what they are and relish in their own sexy/gory/whatever stuff.
It’s just that with the way things are nowadays somebody somewhere is going to get offended and start shit, and most companies don’t want controversy, and so weird half-baked positions are born like Capcom making sexy stuff without highlighting it too much, or even MK11 for that matter with the design decision to tone down the sexy stuff on the girls in the franchise where you can torture and then brutally gut them in every match.

But the problem is that people are pretending that suddenly things arent what they are. Hecatom can vouch that I’ve been hating on fanservice for a loooong fucking time. It does nothing for me, the US thinks sex is icky so it makes it harder for kids etc. But I also dont make the games so there’s that.
I’ve also said multiple times that I dont want the things people lile about their franchises to go away. I dont want MK to be less gory to appeal to me, I dont want Dead or Alive to clean up its fanservice act to please me either.
But a lot of people need to pick where the sit on things and stick to it. The weird hypocrisy of the situation bothers the fuck out of me.
