On one hand those tweets were just joking around and should have never lead to such a dumb controversy. I don’t think there was any intention in alienating the female audience and I don’t think it should have been seen in such a negative light.
On the other hand Bea is right when she says that using such raunchy humor on an official Twitter accounts exposes you to stronger reactions both from the audience and your own superiors at SNK. It’s quite possible that those tweets weren’t removed because of someone’s reaction but maybe just some superior at SNK seeing it and not liking it (and it wasn’t just the “horny” tweet, I think I saw tweets of the SamSho guy talking with an NSFW artist about Iroha rule 34 pics. I’m more than cool with that sort of stuff, but I can see why some corporate may not want that stuff on their official Twitter).
On the other other hand Pertho said something right about this sort of raunchy humor becoming more popular on official Twitter accounts recently as a form of marketing speech, and it’s easy to guess why: it’s just really effective and popular.
