But couldn’t that same argument be made for SFV being easier? If what you need is an understanding of frame data and easier(¿) mechanics, then you have quantitative data to remember, no?
I’ve always felt frame data to be a simple concept, but my chimp brain can’t comprehend how to apply it most of the time. That’s my issue with SFV. It doesn’t compliment my style, and that’s fine. No objective reason as to why it’s bad, but it’s just that I couldn’t gel with it because it’s easier or harder (depending on your perspective) for me.
I don’t know, for me I understand frame data, but that’s not my issue. In SFV, I need to remember frame data (or at least what’s plus, when it’s my turn, and what’s punishable) for 40 characters. That to me is what’s daunting. Add to the fact that it’s usually hard to visually tell what’s unsafe makes this so much worse.
In 3S, I can usually tell what’s unsafe, I just don’t know how much until I lab it out, but it doesn’t feel as required to me because I can still tell it’s my turn to at least attempt a punish, or maybe try to get out of there or something else. Learning optimal punishes is of course required to be great but I feel in SFV you need to do that just be somewhat intermediate. At least in my experience.
Also, I feel like these mistakes in SFV are a lot worse because you get CC’d or whatever. I also think SFV is designed to be a lot more frame trap/pressure heavy which is why this stuff is more critical to learn quicker
Lancelot players are so trash. Oh cool you’re an A1 player with Lance? hold this L to a B1 Narmaya.
at my 8th win I told the guy “More Lance?” “How about you learn how to play instead?”
I like the way Granblue handles comeback mechanics. The game doesn’t penalize the guy who’s winning, in fact, the guy whose is initiating offence is building more meter than the guy who’s dying in the corner. At less than 30% health the losing player will have access to his SSBA, but there are some cases where if he’s losing badly enough he’ll never get the meter for it.
Man, sometimes you have to cut the BS and remember you owe no one anything. That way you can cut dumbasses like that out and fuckin’ ascend in your game. Those people just hold you back in a cycle of appeasement and convincing. Can’t speak for your guy, but I can speak for mine. Motherfucker.
I don’t like a lot of the games SonicFox is good at but holy shit does the guy know how to find bullshit and exploit it at a high level. His brain seems to be wired to find some hard to deal with horse shit and then psychologically beat people over the head with it. Pretty entertaining to be honest. He’s said some ridiculous shit like “I’m gonna learn MvC2 in 6 months and beat people who’ve been playing for years” but you know, dude is young AF.
The funniest thing of it all though has to be people who are apparently fans of skullgirls but have a problem with furry characters. Game has catgirls, a shark scientist and random assorted animal creatures. But yeah sure, this is the hill you die on.
Man, I was thinking about getting back into MK11 with Aftermath…but then reading and watching I was reminded of one particular thing.
Breakaways are still arguably the worst mechanic put into a Fighting Game in the last decade. UMvC3 X-Factor is likely still worse, but MK11 Breakaways are RIGHT THERE.
