Well, Iāve defended Wiz before because he did a lot of stuff that made the community better. But now that a lot of this is being aired out, I donāt know how much it was him making active decisions or him being put in a position he couldnāt fuck up. Iām sure when you hate on Evo or SRK, you got your own beef based on how you feel things should run and all that. But now Iām in a very curious spot where I know decisions that were being made were dumbfucky as all hell (and I think Iāve said as much before); and those decision were made by a guy who got there through what in the fuck type of bullshit I would never cosign or defend.
The guy has sort of always been easy to anger and on a power trip in a lot of places. His reaction to the Aprilās Fool thing was basically his reaction to a lot of shit. One of the mods in GD was basically known for how much shit he had to catch from Wiz on a consistent basis. Not for modding, dude was cool as fuck and we werenāt about trying to make his day harder, but still he basically burned out from dealing with Wiz.
It was a prerequisite that if you were GDās mod, you were kinda sorta catch shit from Wiz. Hell you couldnāt even really complain to him either. One of the GD guys had his whole page blocked by ads (one giant ad on top, one on the bottom), he @ wiz with a screenshot of it pissed and the first thing Wiz did was ban him on the spot.
Weird aside, Iām pretty disheartened on a few things involving all this. Iāve had a few people who were in the scene tell me that there are a lot of other touchy feely things going in the scene that havenāt been spoken about. I never heard of them so Iām pretty fucking mad at anybody who let that shit slide. If you talk shit to a chick like you do a guy, thatās one thing; If you were not checking dudes who were putting hands on peopleā¦what in the fuck?
A bunch of people where in a position to know or to get whispered about some of this shit. Just had a tell me that in some places Wiz being a Perv was known enough to be a meme. At this point if you arenāt Watson or a handful of other, you are looking turbo suspect. Maybe people knew and didnāt put 2 and 2 together or some other shit.
Aye, I remember it being more like a meme with no evidence as a way to shit on Wiz, Iām shocked it all has an actual basis.

Hereās what fucks me up. I played M:TG heavily at a store in a town over. Ran by a great guy who basically saw a bunch of guys grow up. The store owner spent 24/7 with kids, took them on trips to tournaments, paid for hotel rooms etc.
At no point did any abuse happen. The worst you got was 9 people sharing two hotel rooms. Thatās multiple trips, multiple tournaments etc. So then WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH THE US SCENE?
Where were all the leaders at laying the law? I literally had ONE person try and pull some bullshit (which had fuck all to do with anything sexual, dude was being a cunt and trying to get me to DQ some people) and I stomped the hell out of that. You mean to tell me that I had more balls as a TO for some local shit than the vast majority of the US scene.

Its gotta be part of this weird goofy fucking psychology mentioned in the Filipinoman post. You canāt criticize this people. Some weird ego shit running 24/7 where you just canāt say shit to get anything improved. I know of at least one TO who caught a lot of shit from other TOs for just trying to run tournaments better.
So maybe youāre right, a lot of OG shit has gotta burn. Itās gonna mean throwing a lot of good/great things with. But maybe the leadership failure is just so extreme that you douse it all with gasoline and start from the ground floor.

I also did the same with heroclixs which involved kids adults and trips. While a lot of the card, and miniature competitive scenes are SUPER NERDS. A lot if not all had or have girlfriends and actually will hold a conversation with people. At worse we had instances of dudes or chicks cheating but thatās about it.
I think it all goes back to gaming having a lot of social awkward people that donāt know how to deal with interactions of other humans and once arcades died things got way way worse.

Marvel had most aggro bunch
SF had the mildest bunch but a lot are misfits.

The scene should have dudes and chicks room and play separately. People wont like it, but thereās a reason with almost every single sport even ones that can be mixed, arenāt.
Majorās need to be 18 or older or you have to an adult with you will in the competing area.
When the community was smaller and evo and majors were like the same 150-200 people being all open was fine.
But if you are hold open tournaments and try to be invite everyone in and keep growing this is just going to keep happening until actually changes are made.
Also someone with a voice needs to be upfront and tell people to use common sense in situations that can lead to bad situations.
