Did we even talk about MK? I think I missed it.
I see what youâre saying, and I get it. But I felt bad for ruining the dudeâs life. He has guilt and was willing to atone for all the evil that he did. I consider those consequences. Living with intense guilt like that would have to be hell and I donât think him rotting in a cell would make anything better.
Sure, it would give his victims the peace of mind that he wonât be able to hurt them or anyone else again, but heâs not going to do that!
And in normal circumstances, thereâs no way to actually tell if someone really ever feels guilt for their actions or truly understand what they did is wrong, so i agree that normally, putting people like him in jail is totally the right move.
I donât have a good answer for this he pushed a person to suicide, and I think thatâs unforgivable.
But taking revenge on a reformed person who wonât repeat their past sins and are on the straight and narrow also seems wrong.
Thatâs why Iâm enjoying the story so much! It makes me ponder moral dilemmas and second guess all my past convictions regarding reformation, rehabilitation, crime, and punishment! you know, the really fun shit!
The FGC has always had people unwilling to learn since the start.
Lets not forget the idiots using âgentlemenâ rules, like allowing themselves to be trhown if they accidentally threw their opponent.

He makes these point later in the video, but the three reasons why it matters are:
1 - you get to see how other people are playing against the people you personally are getting your ass kicked by
2 - the guys watching your games will definitely notice shit youâre doing wrong when youâre watching
3 - is one guy beating everyone? I bet your ass that when you go to get some food after the games, everyone will be brainstorming on how to beat him.
All of these things happen constantly when Iâm playing offline. Online though? Nah. Nobody watched my games when playing online and thereâs no local king of the hill we bitch about while eating our burgers and extra salty fries because there are no burgers online.
Uh, Kamoshida was fucking with high school students. Itâs implied even sexually. One tried to commit suicide. We really trying to offer this dude a redemption arc or likeâŚ? Dude couldâve literally died at the end of that arc and I wouldâve felt no remorse lmfao. He only felt bad when some magical force came into play and changed his personality entirely. He wouldâve continued abusing students for as long as he couldâve otherwise. Dude deserves everything he got.
Well, that is not really a problem of playing online.
I do all of that both offline and online.
In fact, in some cases i had seen better results online because the game in question doesnt really have a scene on my country beyond casual level.
You can still hang online talking about the matches you had with your friends, and you can still have a small group talk about the matches that are happening via chat, be text or voice.
Another benefit is that you can have external povs from people that are not part of your local scene.
There are plenty of people willing to help you out improve that watch your vods to check what you could be doing wrong.
We have seen it happen here.
Nothing stops people from having the same dynamic they have offline.
The only thing that i could give is that playing online will never be the same as playing offline due all varibles you can have during a match that are outside your control
p5 honestly disappointed the shit out of me, that game had no balls after the first arc, inconsistent themes, and dumb even by anime standards plot points
I mean I still played all of it but I was mostly left unsatisfied
Yeah itâs fun to have this discussions, and part of why I like the game so much. I think it might help you to look at it more along the lines of the protagonists are seeking justice, not revenge. It can be easy to think differently given how personal the animosity is for the characters towards Kamoshida, and their repeated expressions to see him âpayâ for what he did, but thereâs an evolution in their perspective as the story goes on as to WHY they continue to do this. And the answer they keep coming back to is standing up for people who have been abused, and finding justice.
What drives Ryuji into finding his persona is righteous anger over a man happily getting away with abuse, and for Ann itâs defense of her friend.
As for whether Kamoshida feeling personal atonement was punishment enoughâŚI donât think so, personally. The man was so willing to bask in the praise his public accomplishments earned him, so why should his crimes not be equally as public? I donât see how he could have truly repented for what he did if he didnât make his actions known through a public confession, and thereâs no way he could continue on as a teacher after he admitted his abuse.
If he felt bad about what he did, but kept it secret, I donât think their job would have been done.
Hereâs the thing tho. Itâs one thing to have scrubs with scrub mentalities. That will always happen. In fact, go check the Xenoverse 2 subreddit and Iâll assure you youâll see some horribly scrubby takes.
Take for example, the old days. Youâll definitely remember this better than me, but this kind of shit only really flied in GameFAQâs.
When you posted something like this in SRK or Dustloop, people would at least try to educate you that your view on that is wrong. Youâd probably get clowned on too.
So one of two options happened: You either realized your mistake and started learning and building your game, or youâd throw a tantrum and realize you ainât built to hang around people that play the game.
This is different than people putting SFVâs trash ass characters in S+ Tier and crying for nerfs 24/7. Very different. Even some pro players do this shit. Itâs frankly ridiculous.
Oh, you wanna talk about whiny, entitled communities that would rather see nerfs on characters that donât need it instead of learning the matchup?
Lemme show you a little game called DBFZâŚ
In theory. In practice, at least from my experience, most of the things I was referring to above are things that just happen naturally offline, while you have to make an active effort to emulate them online, so only people that are really motivated to get better (or actively help people get better) will do them. If youâre hanging out with people offline, even unmotivated players will end up doing these things and getting / providing these benefits by pure accident. Hence it being harder.
You really gotta start playing 3rd Strike with us.
And besides that, if you take a look at the older threads, and I mean âWe all played SFVâ old, youâll see that we usually ran big lobbies with the inevitable wait while spectating and commented on it later.
Hell, you can probably see the SCVI crew commentate on this thread about their games.
Itâs a matter of mentality. And without a doubt the most important thing in lobbies is voice chatting. For two big reasons: You can talk shit and rile people up, which makes the fights more fun since you actually want to beat people up and the mid-match critique. Post-match discussions can go in Discord/Forums.
If thatâs not happening, itâs because as a community, the FGC is failing. And itâs failing because there isnât a sense of community to a lot of places where players hang out.
Which is why, again: Forums > Discord >>>>> Everything else >>>> The dirt > The worms inside of the dirt > Popoâs stool >>>>>>>>> Twitter.
The thing is that SRK and DL started as hubs for competitive players, so that is why you saw the scrubby mentality being mocked.
The problem is that even pros can have scrub mentality moments.
Is not exclussive to this gen of players, it has always been a thing.
And like i pointed out, the gentlemen rules were not a gamefaqs thing, but something that happened irl at arcade centers.
There were also stories here about people getting stabbed at an arcade because they didnt play with scrub rules.
I disagree.
For example, when i play with some friends we make a voice chat and are hanging on talking trash to each other and also giving advice when playing.
Is just a matter of habits.
If you and your friends dont have the habit on hanging online via chat, then is obvious you wouldnt have that kind of dynamic when playing online.
The forum is alive today.
And it all started from Irohaâs ass.
Good times.
While weâre on the topic, anyone want to play MK11 with me? PS4, Kitana-main.
Iâm absolute ass tier but Iâm really digging the game right now (I think the simple addition of armor breaks helped a lot) and our commentary is always helpful.
And I donât mean now, but just in general
No, your PSN is Mattatsu_
Sure! I can later tonight. Iâll mostly be doing ignorant Sheeva nonsense.
Took me a few minutes to get that. I was like, âwhatâs wrong with my name?â
