While I agree with this sentiment, I think you underestimate how much some people want to compete, not play. And for all its faults, SFV is one of the biggest FGs out there when it comes to consistent tournament entries nowadays, if not the biggest. It makes sense to stick with it in that sense.
And, to be fair, that does apply a bit to me as well. I really like Tekken 7, but there are certain other FGs I’d play over it if we had a consistent community for it.

Mvc3 and sf5 v trigger and xcrackers are the same concept both of which I hate how they are implemented.

Maybe it sounds weird but I like stuff when it’s not 100% organized and on a leash.Those small ones seem to have more heart in them.
They do what they can with what they have and it’s still fun.
There is Pro Tour attached and the pots based on crowd funding so they can basically do what they want. It’s more like a being at the arcades back in the day. People just chilling, playing games, and talking shit to each other.
It’s a flawed logic, if the SF players picked another game to compete in that would become the biggest.
The problem is that the NA community is by far the biggest in numbers and it refuses to shift away from Capcom no matter what.
ArcSys tried to cater to them with Granblue and yet it’s still anime BS because Ferry has a DP or some shit like that.
And there are other OSes for games that do play closer to SF than many others.
KoF is still shit for Mexicans.

The problem again lies in the stubbornness of the biggest unified community that treats everyone else like inferior while their 3 last game have been subpar at best.
