The Street Calibur 5 Lounge: The Soul Burns But not as Hard as the FGC is Burning

Tbh, that kinda makes sense. Especially since the directional layout is wildly different.

I instantly missed the smooth flow of analog though. I never liked using buttons for movement in any game.

I always forget you’re an analog guy

That seems like a special kind of torture, but you do you.
At least you can say your Wu-Tang name would be Anal OG

Like I said yesterday, y’all ain’t lived until you played GG on a Wiimote.

Cheap PS2-style pads are just too comfortable for most of my gaming needs, especially since I don’t play FPS games.

Being able to touch type makes a big difference on whether you’ll be able to use a hitbox.

That and you know, practice.

A friend of mine in the SamSho community just passed away today.

Keep yourselves safe and healthy. Don’t want to hear anything like that for any of you.

No, I got the DC versions, which are apparently different than the Naomi versions. I think I got it sorted out, but will play around with it more tonight.

Lol they would if they were about it. Gotta keep all the horniness cartoony. Otherwise people riot.

Also, playing Bloodstained after Hollow Knight is like going to a regular, nice resturant after visiting a 5-star place the day before. I know this is good stuff and I’m enjoying myself, but I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed regardless.

Lol I played them in the other order. Yeah bloodstained is very much an updated 90s game.

Also really interested in your opinion having not played SM until the modern era. Usually people vote along party lines, as it were.

Come to think of it, as much as I like Metroid, it’s kinda embarrassing that I haven’t played SM yet.

Side Note: I miss @GetTheTables :pensive:

I dropped analog because dashing forward felt like dog shit. This was especially annoying in anime games and even worse when to comes to air dashing. That’s why I’m going all in on stick.

Whats up with Arc being horny on main lmao

Anyone play EX layers? Is there some kind of weird cancel system?

I know, right! It’s been on my bucket list forever now.

The thing about Super Metroid really is that they nailed the atmosphere, world design, pacing and subtext-based storytelling, while making the world exploration feel rewarding and allowing you to skip unnecessary backtracking if you know the game well enough. The X-ray visior is also ingenious. It just nails the essence of the genre better than any game I had played. It’s a bit too easy for my taste on a “regular” playthrough, but sequence breaking makes the game significantly more punishing, so you kinda get to choose your level of difficulty organically rather than flipping a menu switch. My only other complaints are the run button and the select button.

It’s the baseline for a Metroidvania and it still holds up in every imaginable regard except control scheme, more than 25 years later. It’s a legitimately great game today without having to make any qualifying statements about it being a SNES game.

Volt, play it. Do it now. You won’t regret it.
