You know, i actually blame the decline of factual discussion to social media, specially twatter and that most of the discussion now is being driven by people more interested on clicks than an actual inteligent argument like youtubers and bloggers.
There are still matchup charts, but like Voltz said, that would require people to actually put effort on their arguments of why x or y character is good or bad, so people just dismiss it.
Add the Dunning Krugger effect, where a lot of idiots despite being wrong, talk like if they were the ultimate source of information on the matter, and is no surprise that everyone uses tier lists as hot takes instead of the statistical tool it is.
Reddit and twitter both has a lot of people who only bother posting for the clout, and thats where fighting game discussion seems to have settled into
As for true, matchup centered tierlists, yeah those are the best but it could only really be made collectively, with a bunch of people who all actually know what their character can do and fill in the others knowledge gaps. Forums used to be good for that but these days RIP
Bro what did DeSean Jackson say/do? All I can gather is that he said something anti-Semitic but none of these damn articles actually say what happened. Heâs out here (mis)quoting Hitler?
He didnât say something anti-Semetic, he highlighted an article that says that Hitler says (it itself was a quote by a NoI member) that essentially reads that Black Men are persecuted because White Jews are afraid that theyâll get in the way of their plans of extorting the country and achieving world domination while ending the passage with âHitler was rightâ.
Wow this dude used to be my favorite player at one pointâŚgot my ball signed by him and everything. Saying âyou hate to see itâ would be an understatement.
Man I read that passage a couple times and I have no idea how to even reply to it.
And you would think that such an act would bring a wave of vitriol, scorn or at least people just telling him âWhat are you thinking?â. No. Only a couple of former players have spoken up, and relatively lightly at that. None of his peers at all have said a damn thing. The Eagles made a statement about looking into it and they are conversing with him (probably wanting to avoid the locker room blowup that happened in New Orleans). But we also have athletes coming out in support of what he said, including Jameis Winston and Kevin Durant. It took 24 hours before anyone even noticed what he had posted and thereâs still no real media involvement or peer involvement in this.
Itâs a pathetic double standard. Iâm equally as pissed about what he did, as I am about the majority of the world basically ignoring it.
I think that kind of standard has shifted given these modern games with 50, 60, 70+ characters in it. Saying 34 characters are mid-tier isnât very helpful or enlightening. Iâve seen good Smash tier lists from the previous games go to H tier, and every tier had plenty of characters in it. And, given how Smash is traditionally not very well balanced, all those tiers made sense.
But tier lists are declining in usefulness anyway, as given large rosters, thereâs always 3 or 4 characters that can dunk on any other character, given decent balancing. A tier list full of asterisks and âcounter-picksâ really highlights how much a MU chart is better than the summary.
For awhile Smash4 Luigi has his own âcounterpickâ tier off to the side, all to himself, cause he beat all the top and high tiers, and lost to almost everyone in mid and low tier.
There are a lot of racist black people out thereâŚnot most but i am usually not surprised to hear other black people say some out there shit. There seems to be this popular idea that if youâre black you canât be racist or any other kind of bigot.
If Jun actually returns to Tekken, I will buy all of their DLC.
As for the other two, it seemed obvious that Setsuka was going to reappear at some point but Madter Roshi is a nice surprise. Bandai Namco Latin American also posted this earlier.
Sucks that weâll probably have to wait a whole month to see if itâs all true.
