oh, please do!
Why are you still playing that instead of Super Metroid?
I can see his pov on the argument and even agree with some of the points.
But, i think that there is some romantization about how you could get info back in the day.
I would argue that for all the faults, we can get better info now than before.
Yes, you have your batch of trash, but it also happened back in the day.
For example.
The Valle CC on Alpha 2 and 3, a lot of the 3s, GGXX tech that was mostly japanese exclussive, etc.
If you werent on the right place, or the right site, you probably didnt know about that stuff.
And meanwhile, you could be on a local scene that didnt have all the info, so that promoted a not so optimal way of play your game.
It wasnt only the geographical and language isolation for the different scenes, but also that it was difficult to shown the tech since there wasnt sites to share videos like it is today.
If anything, i think that the real problem is not about the quality of the info, but that it has become harder to be flexible on trying to find what works and what doesnt.
People are more willing to settle on a meta, and hardly try to deviate from it now.
I think it’s also a bigger pain in the ass to consolidate info. Like there’s a ton of info out there, but very little of it is in a convenient source.
I got some JoJo Part 4 spoilers too
Jokes on you bitch, already seen it!
Also, sorry @Skort the link I posted was the first mention to the “Horny on Main” debacle, but the story only started to develop here:
Also, did anybody catch that drama over the “Horny on main” tweet that SNK did involving the new character? Apparently some people took issue with it. Nevermind that the character is in the game with all her fanservice in your grill. But the tweet.
In other news, now other games can feel the pain of console exclusive characters

I was mostly using the video as reaffirmation as for why a persistent community (preferably offline where you can talk and drink while playing) is important. I actually forgot about the headline of the video when I posted it here because those points resonated a lot with my personal experience with FGs. Having people you play with and where you both want to improve and succeed, and having a guy who was watching your game over your shoulder telling you what you were obviously doing wrong when you got thrashed, has helped me a lot.
As an aside, I tried to start this discussion on discord and it immediately got drowned by two guys shouting about how everything JChen says is trash without watching the video. Kinda proving the point that discord is shit for following discussions on stuff.
Good to see you back in the thread btw.
lol I made some adjustments and have gone full zen in this bitch.
The only thing I’ll add to the P5 thing is this, and I’ll spoil it:
Summary
Kamoshida is a Olympic medal winning volleyball player and has established an elite program at Shujin.
imho the “best” outcome of all this would be for him to remain as coach, stop beating kids and assaulting girls, and be a good teacher.
Give back to the people who he’s hurt by being a good coach and teacher.
I haven’t finished Madarame’s palace yet, but I know he ends up in jail cause it comes up in your interrogation scene.
But why tho? He could stop selling copies, be an informant to the police for art thieves and plagiarists and then be an actual art teacher.
But I really like this weird moral grey area shit, kinda gives the whole story a “are we doing the right thing” element and i have a feeling it might end up blowing up in everyone’s faces.
Summary
Madarame is put away because he was also a cause of Yusuke’s mother’s death.
Only read this after the Palace is done.
I got distracted with Rev2 and P5
… the suspense…
Shouldn’t be long tho. I have a problem with over grinding, and my team is OP right now. Got about half way through the palace in an in-game day, so i should be able to beat in my next couple sessions
And looking at that sprite that’s SF 4 Juri.
It wouldn’t even be a fight.
I wouldnt blame discord for that.
You can ecounter those kind of idiots everywhere, lol.
@KingTubb I think it would be incredibly unfulfilling as a player going after someone so hated as Kamoshida and then he just goes on living a happy life with zero consequences. What about the people whose lives he literally ruined? What about Shiho? Oh he feels bad about sexually abusing a female student to the point she attempted suicide, all’s well that ends well.
If pedos and abusers are found out in real life, no amount of “I’m sorry” lets them get off scott free.
As an aside, I tried to start this discussion on discord and it immediately got drowned by two guys shouting about how everything JChen says is trash without watching the video.
I’m watching it right now, and I already got a huge hole in his argument. The whole “you had to watch games while waiting your turn and now you don’t watch shit” is stupid as hell.
Now we got entire years’ worth of footage from all levels, but most importantly, the absolute highest. On demand. With commentary or not.
How does his point about “all playing and no watching” makes any sense? You got literally dozens of thousands of people watching Evo Top 8 every year. Horrible take.
Kinda proving the point that discord is shit for following discussions on stuff.
See, this is why a lot of Discord hate is wack.
You’re conflating communities with tools.
It’s like saying Xbox Live sucked because 10yo kids were calling you a Ni–er with the hard er whenever they lost. The tool itself functions as advertised. You can communicate with other players freely.
What we gotta admit now is that the current FGC is dogshit. A lot of morons with no interest and grit to properly learn games and prone to crying for nerfs like Football/Houston Rockets players cry for fouls.
Think about it. If we all moved to the SF 30th Discord we made for voice chatting and posting 3rd Strike tech right now and started posting like we usually do on the General channel, would Discord be ass?
Hell no.
KoF Characters are monsters compared to SF Characters in any way.
Actually, Yakuza Characters are Monsters compared to SF kittens.
