and your point is…?
would you guys complain if there was a viewer cap?
that I’m pointing out that street fighter tournaments being live streamed was unheard of 2 years ago and dude is gonna try to bring up moot point that pc gaming has been. streaming is a new thing for the community and a lot of new people to the scene act like spoiled little shits about it. 3 years ago you got DVD footage of evo 4 months after if you were lucky. no one complained back then. now all of a sudden you get the best stream evo has had up to this date and people who have nothing to contribute are gonna bitch. lol a poster made the username leveldown just to troll? seriously grow the fuck up.
All that really needs to be said.
Good job on the stream guys, you worked your ass’s off. I saw some replays and you guys did great, peace.
Anybody who wants to actually support Level|Up instead of complaining about an unfortunate crash as if it were intentional, watch Wednesday Night Fights and drop a contribution via PayPal. These guys spend a lot of their own money doing this and aren’t exactly raking in the dollars 24/7.
No one complained back then since I’m assuming there was simply no alternative. After a year of people getting accustomed to streams on a weekly basis now it’s not unfeasible to think people are going to be upset if the biggest tournament of the year is shaky let alone craps out at pretty much the most important moment of the whole thing(although not for me since Semis was the best part of Evo imo). That’s unfortunate enough but Cicada’s comment is pretty bullshit.
This exactly.
All these people saying the stream was provided free, yes it was, to us, that doesn’t mean they were just like “HEY EVO, LET US STREAM YOUR TOURNAMENT FOR FREE!”. No, they were paid to stream this event, and you’d think they’d respect that fact and do their best to provide a quality stream.
Stop using the excuse “you guys didn’t have to pay, shut the fuck up”. We didn’t have to pay, but somebody did, and that person paid so the rest of us could enjoy it, and I’d say he/she certainly didn’t get his/her money’s worth.
i’d say you can leave that up to the evo staff
yeah, i had empathy and was rooting for Level|Up before that comment. now i’ll do my part lightening the load on their streaming rig by not watching anything they stream again. that was almost as bad as MarkMan calling Daigo a *** in a chat stream after he signed with MC. i don’t understand why people on this site are so scuzzy. :bluu:
they did apologize on the stream though, and everyone in chat just said “fuck you”.
I heard nothing but compliments about the stream UNTIL the unfortunate system crash at the end. That is simply bad timing. It’s not like level|up did anything wrong. Things happen… and sometimes things happen at the most inopportune times.
To say that their entire stream was a failure is bullshit.
AJ, ShinJN, Valle, and the rest of their team worked TIRELESSLY the entire event. I never saw AJ more than 5 feet from his station the ENTIRE EVENT. Remember, the event was basically on basically 15 hours a day. He (and his team) deserves a lot more respect than what he (they) are getting. Clean presentation, 3 commentators at a time, 2 monitor setup (like Devastation), player cam, crowd cam, all of it recorded in HD.
Seriously…
… just shut the fuck up.
seconded with a second “…just shut the fuck up.”
when people get a better value than what they are paying (which is free) and people are going out of their way to do it for you (evo gets sponsors… not level|up) then you need to be happy you got shit at all. bitches sound like ungrateful kids when they don’t get what they want on christmas.
Thank you for so graciously offering to represent the people who commissioned the stream. How could they do it without you?!
it was a great stream from the start and a better stream when it switched to ustream
Ya it was sad what happen to the ssf4 finals but hey, shit happens. People complaining can choke on a John Holmes.
People have a right to complain because it’s their own opinion.
Whether it’s valid or not, we understand the disappointment in reason.
There is no such thing as a flawless stream in the fighting game community, everybody complains or wishes to troll when there’s nothing to complain about.
I’m not going to feed any trolls because SRK forums is what it is.
We’ve published an EVO Stream response earlier in the day to our site.
Welcome to Level|Up - Take your game to the next level.
Just know there is nothing negative anybody can say to me or my staff that will prevent us from making things right.
- Valle
I’ll give them Saturday, for the most part Saturday was great, but as you can see from the opinions in this thread, Friday was an almost unwatchable horror show, and well we all know what happened Sunday.
And thanks Valle for coming in here and being honest and polite at least, I realize I was overly rude in my original post but Cicada’s post was extremely poor PR for the company and after a ton of fans had been let down I think we had been expecting more than “deal with it” from you guys, which you just gave us.
Oh I’m sorry, I was under the impression that I was allowed to express my opinions, I must be incorrect.
I wasn’t stating that that was how the people who funded the stream felt, I was saying that if I was in there position that is how I would feel in their position. The people who commissioned it paid money so that we, the fans, could watch the event when we couldn’t afford to go to EVO ourselves. They commissioned it I assume with a company they felt would do a good job. Now from my point of view, if I did this and something like this happened (I understand the crashes were likely due to a system failure, but the Friday lag was brutal as well, and Saturday morning was pretty bad), where a large portion of the fans watching were left upset and complaining, I would feel as though I did not get my money’s worth out of my purchase.
That’s just my point of view, I am in no way trying to represent those who commissioned the stream.
There, is that more clear for you dear? Christ, I thought it was pretty obvious when I said that “I’d say”, as in “IN MY OPINION”. Sorry if you didn’t grasp that.
just saying… opinions can’t be wrong, and as valle said… people have the right to voice them…
… but that doesn’t save complainers from looking any less like ungrateful assholes.
props to the level up guys for putting up a stream in the first place. i was at evo but when i was at the house i was staying at, i’d turn it on the stream to catch the games i didn’t really feel like watching live (early in the morning games haha) and i thought that stream was great. a couple of hiccups here and there but nothing distracting.
people are ungrateful
