The Stinging Hook: Steve Fox General Thread

I have found recently that you can cancel into peekaboo off of ducking. You can beat virtually any move by going into patella smash since it’ll work as a frame trap due to its start up. Also its good to do on someones wakeup. makes themstop doing random dps because of the armor we get.

Ducking -> Peekaboo -> Patella Smash is a good tool to try to bait out attacks from players who are heavy on the footsie game. If the spacing is right, it works well on characters like Vega, or Law if the player is constantly throwing out that b. Mp. Cutting elbow is also upper body invincible and will blow through some moves, and Albion combination isn’t a bad idea if you want to apply pressure and get Steve tagged out.

Possible cross up in the corner:

I think it might just hit in front then land behind but, interesting still

I’ve actually known about tht for a while but I’ve never tested it to check if its a legit crossup or not. However, it has worked on every character I’ve tried it on. Only problem is tht you give up the corner, but if you get the hit you can at least go into a 503 damage or more combo with 1 bar.

ryan hunter tested it more and said its pretty much balls. i think it hits front and lands behind also if you hold forward you walk out of it.

Did any of you spot a Steve at EVO 2013? I didn’t get to watch the whole of EVO so I’m wondering if any of you caught some pro Steve play.

Ryan Hunter plays Steve and he was on the karastorm stream a few times. He also participated in a First to 5 vs. TZA who made Top 8. Besides that there was Coffee who uses Balrog/Steve, here is a video of him:

Ah Steve, that character I’ve wanted to play since Day 1 but have forever been intimidated. Perhaps someday…

Yeah, I know about Ryan Hunter and actually linked to his match against TZA (I believe? The Chun/Law dude) in the video thread. Thanks for letting me know about Coffee, though. I’m going to have to check his matches out.

Oh, and don’t let the opinions of the joe-public influence you. People were/are ranting about Dante being ridiculously difficult to play with in UMvC3… couldn’t have disagreed with them more after I picked him up myself.

Fair enough. I mean, I even reached the point where I know what I am doing with Lei (cannot really use him until my AA gets better since D ranks just jump on my stances). I figure though that Steve is less about mental difficulty and more dexterity difficulty. Even so, I figure I don’t need to do his 800 damage corner combos to win with him at the D+ rank.
I just want to get my Hajime no Ippo on.

Another good one. Nice…
