The Stinging Hook: Steve Fox General Thread

I’ve been using Hwoarang/Steve. Steve on point usually doesn’t work out that well for me

Is Steves overhead not even safe on hit? I Swear I just landed a overhead and then got cr.MK by Ken before I could even do anything. Also why give a overhead if you can’t even combo it? 40 damage and unsafe? useless

Also is there any easier way to start a combo beside jumpins? I’m having an insanely difficult time doing f.MP+lp,flicker cancel, cr.mp to ducking foxhunt.

I’m trying to form a secondary team around him.How does Raven/Steve work? Raven doesn’t really need meter for most of his combos or mixups which means Steve is free to use as much meter as he likes.

Suggestions are welcome

I just changed my Team from Steve/Julia now to Julia/Steve. I really think Julia complements Steve because she has alot of good normals with really good range. Plus she doesnt require much meter to get her stuff really going. She has good HP and decent damage output from simple bnb’s. She also has a DP which can be switch cancelled upon hit or block. However idk how good Julia is currently but she seems to be pretty solid. I have ran this team offline in a vs. between my friend. My team is also subject to change if they don’t have good Synergy i’m just going to have to put them on separate teams.

Can you really cancel Albatross spin into Peekabo? And if so, how!? I know it’s possible in Tekken 6, but I have tried this in SFxT and it doesn’t work for me. What’s the trick?

Also, good sound advice from the rest of your postings, good stuff.

@Masarap
did you go to that 2GGaming tourny at gameplay? because i remember there being another steve player there besides me and i figured it might be you

Can you explain how to go from st.rh into peekaboo? I’m having problems getting that to connect.

From Peekaboo you can definitely combo from the patella smash (lp in peekaboo) and you can also combo off the ground bounce from Albion combination.

Im currently using Steve/Lili and i was wondering if someone could give me information on steve’s special move properties (such as invincibility, goes through fireballs, etc. ) and id like to know the properties on steves standing lk, mk, and hk, as well as his toward h, as well as if he can combo anything off overhead.

Id also like to know what steve’s best air to air and jump in attacks are, as well as his best anti air (right now i assume its his counter special unless safe jumped)

LK has 1-20 frames of upper body invulnerability
MK has 1-18 frames of upper body invulnerability
HK has 1-19 frames of upper body invulnerability
They all lose to lows and throws. Maybe mediums as well not sure.
Towards MP/HP +4 on hit, 0 on block. Follow up LK 0 on hit, -2 on block.

Cr.hp is probably his best Anti air.
Air to air maybe J.MP or Jump HK

Lp/mp/hp Hellfire 0 on hit, -3 on block
Ex hellfire +8 on hit, +5 on block

LP/MP/HP/EX sonic fang: on hit: Knocksdown, EX Floats allowing you to combo, on Block: -7

does he have any invincible moves? and is his ducking into L and M pretty safe on block? and i was wandering if standing hard kick is a good way to avoid jump ins, also what is the purpose of peekaboo?

Peekaboo is an unthrowable stance.
as for invincible I dont think so.
His Duck specials are the same as his weaves and quick spin pretty much. Loses to throws and lows.
If by L or M follow up on his Duck specials then. No. Duck, LP follow up is -3 on block and M follow up is -6 on block.
Not everyone can punish L follow up though.

so ex duck doesnt have really any special properties other than being fast, and i was also wondering if you throw out forward h from midscreen can is it easy to reaction a normal or does the move have alot of priority.

i was wondering what your guys Steve teams are right now im playing Kaz/Steve but i was thinking about Nina/Steve team mom and son or do you think Kaz and Steve is a better team i need dat synergy

also has anyone got advice for the best way to pressure with steve, i usually do close str, cr. str, cr mk, into duck, then mixup or into twirl mixup

I haven’t really had a chance to training mode it up since WNF but it seems I have remembered wrong, I guess you can’t peekaboo from a chained st. RH. My bad =/.

@Balltrapper - nah, that wasn’t me.

Still running Rog/Steve so I can learn some better fundamentals with Rog - I just posted a frame data thread (not FINISHED yet, still have stances and supers to post up) but you should all check it out if you don’t have the guide.

Masarap anyway you can get a video that shows that albatross into peekaboo setup?

Does anyone know if you have to go into Flicker and then cancel to go into c.HP from Ducking Hook?

Can Steve do anything off a low jab?

Meow.

Look to the frames sir
