The "Stickless Arcade Stick" Thread

You need to split up the cable (there are five wires) so that there is a five-connector daisy chain for the ground line, a two connector daisy chain for the up line, and you probably want to attach connectors to all of the lines. Once that is done, it’s the same as hooking up the wires.

does it require any soldering or anything of that sort? I don’t have the money to buy any extra tools (I just own the basic essentials), so using (mostly) my hands would be preferred haha.

I’m not sure there’s a good way to do it without either soldering or crimping.

would this help me at all?

Yeah. That will get you 4 of the 5 buttons.

are there any tutorials out there (preferably with pictures or video) that would show me how to split the up joystick input into two buttons? I’m willing to learn to step up my stick modding game, haha.

All you would need to do is have two wires connected to the Up Button screw terminal on the Cthulu, each one goes to one of the up buttons. Daisy chaining would look neater but give the same result.

I’m not sure a wiring harness is what you want, does anyone know if the pins are spaced/sized properly and correspond to the wire layout to be directly screwed into the Cthulu? You’re probably better off just getting some wires with QCD’s pre-crimped for you.

Oh… I forgot about the screw e

Yeah, I forgot about the screw terminals on teh Cthulu.

Does anyone have a guide on how to convert a mechanical keyboard to a controller using a PS360+?

I doubt there are any guides like that although it has been done:

Basically, you just wire the micro switches to the pcb.

If you just want the wasd layout, the easiest thing would be to build a keybox with the gamerfinger buttons that use cherry micro switches.

built another keybox:

Hmm, this seems a bit more simple than I thought it would be. I’m gonna order the parts soon, I’ll let you know how it goes

okay, I lied. it isn’t as simple as I thought it was. here’s a picture of the inside of my stick:

I had another picture but I lost it, but on the right of this pic theres another board that has all of the buttons hooked up to it.

so just to recap, I want to:

so where do I hook up those wires to on the pcb? I know the blue part is the MC Cthulhu board, where do I hook up the wires? I’m guessing it’s not going to be as simple as plugging it in (like the quick disconnect on the buttons). sigh, why must I be so noobish when it comes to stick modding

edit: I’m starting to think that it’s easier to buy a new ps360+ and a tek innovations case and start from scratch

edit 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYj93yTMOsw
i think this video is slowly clearing things up for me, i’ll still need help tho

edit 3: do you guys think its weird that i want 24mm buttons for the directions and 30mm buttons for the attacks?

Edit 4: and how exactly do I disconnect the joystick? Where is it safe for me to unplug it?

Hey people,

Kind of a …repost, but this time this is the correct thread for this. Originally posted on the original Hitbox thread, but voluntary moving here before I get castrated over there :s

I’m using a Ghetto-box I made myself which you can see here (pictures and source code available).

Now, on to the real question: I main Ken and I try the EX hadouken FADC Ultra 2 and it is a SOB to pull off! With some mashing and luck, I can get it 20% of the time, thus it is unusable :frowning: . Any tips on how to get better with this, especially inputting the Ultra 2 motion after the FADC? The EX hadouken FADC i’m using is the SOCD version, i.e. 236+mhp -> (holding 6 down)4+focus -> (release 4 + focus).

Sooo… any insights/suggestions?
Cheers!

Is there a classified on this forum where I can buy a custom hitbox?

When testing out my directions, I walk forward when holding both left and right instead of it registering as neutral. I’m using a PS360+ with latest firmware. Any ideas?

Does that happen from both sides? With mine, it seems as though left takes precedence over right and down takes precedence over up. most modern games have inbuilt protection against SOCD.

It goes forward whichever side. I’ve seen both left and right registering as neutral in sf4 before just curious as to why mine isnt working. Maybe I’m missing something?

It’s strange that that’s happening, but you’ll need to look into installing some kind of SOCD-fix into your stick if you want it to be tournament-legal. Clearly your stick is sending both left and right signals to the game at the same time, which can cause problems with some games so its generally not allowed. If you’re playing at home it’s not really a problem, though.

I’d ask in the tech talk general thread with details of where you got the PCB from, how much space you’ve got left inside the stick and how willing you are to mod things yourself and see what they suggest as the best way to fix the SOCD problem for your situation.

The PS360+ has an SOCD scrubber.
Are you absolutely sure you are on the latest firmware 1.65?
If you are on the latest, check the connections at the PS360+ and make sure there isn’t a fiber of wire causing a short/check the usb cable and connections.
If everything looks right but is still acting up, reinstall the firmware. Possibly on a different PC.

It was running 1.61 I believe. I flashed the firmware with the latest but it still reads it as the old one in my device manager. But I’m pretty sure that the old firmware supports socd cleaning. There is are wires touching to short it out.
