The "Stickless Arcade Stick" Thread

Yes - just look at the earlier pages in this thread.

Finally get to join the group. Man is it weird to get used to the buttons.

Art and button rims subject to change? Haha. 5-button cos I only play Tekken. TTT2 really.

Need a little help though. My SOCDs work okay, L+R = N, U+D = N (which is of no consequence to me in Tekken) but when I do L+D+R I get nothing, where I was expecting to get D. My PCB is stock Brawlstick 360. Would Toodle’s SOCD cleaner fix this? Has someone had and fixed this problem before?

Thanks for your help ahead of time.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread, but if you post some pictures of your layout for the SOCD fix I might be able to help. Or, post in the noobie thread and you’ll probably get a solution really quickly.

I don’t have Toodle’s SOCD cleaner. What I listed was just how the Brawlstick PCB works for me in Tekken Tag 2. Wondering if the SOCD cleaner would help me and turn L+D+R to D.

Yes, it should.

Thanks for clearing this up! Now to find someone to solder it for me.

Anyone make stickless pads? I just had to move to a studio apartment.no work space/tools etc.

I’ve seen a few pics, but they’re even rarer than the stickless sticks. I guess if you were going to have one made for you you could look at some of the legendary modders over in Tech Talk.

Hope you guys can help, I’m looking for a madcatz SE panel cut out in a hit box configuration. I already tried contacting one guy who does it but to no avail. Also if I can’t find a panel if someone could point me in the direction of getting a hit box case or perhaps a TE case and using arts hobbies to cut a hit box plexi and remove the metal panel underneath somehow. Any help is appreciated.

im pretty sure art can do it? http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/

im not totally sure about it though

I have a hitbox, but im not really a fan of it. I prefer stick.

Here’s my Custom HitBox:

The case was made by Magocyber and is a Figured Bubinga VSHG HitBox with a Black Plexi on top and a Triple-Thick Clear Plexi for the bottom.

For the buttons I swapped all the rims and added the Little Kahuna Silent Pads made by Moonchilde. (They Work Awesome BTW!)

On the inside I got a ps360+ mounted and a custom wiring job that you can see through the window. I wanted it to look like a bomb. Everything was a tight squeeze and I almost ran out of room lol.

Can anyone please post a wiring diagram for a PS360? Clueless on how to wire the joysticks to buttons.

THE PCB is labled of what screw terminal goes to what input.

Not sure of the reasoning for not like acryllic, but if it’s because you think it will break, it won’t i have owned tek cases with joysticks in them and they dont feel like it will break, and that’s a stick, for the buttons you would have to randy savage that shit to even crack it.

just some info, hope it helps

@alonzoramon

Sorry for the necro. I am only posting because I had the same question. I believe Art from tek inovations will do custom plastic cuts so if downloaded the vs template from his website, then downloaded a hitbox template from his website and replaced the button layout on the vs template with the hitbox button layout you could have him cut it for you (if he decided to) then just take that plastic template to a metal fab shop and say hey make a metal panel exactly like this. (i talked to a metal shop and they wanted something like $40 to make something similar) hope this helps

again sorry for the necro.

Man, I kept looking online so everything I need is set before I start the project, and it was right in front of me. Now I feel really dumb. hahaha

Thanks a lot. Time to mod.

So I just finished a custom hitbox. I know it’s going to take some time to get acclimated. Facing right I am fine, but I feel like my left index finger is a total noob. I am having a hard time rolling double fireballs when facing left. I’m pretty sure practice will alleviate some of this, but I was curious if anyone has any suggestions?

I saw all the hitbox arcade videos and I like the idea of the sliding motion with 2 fingers but I can’t for the life of me to get it to come out. I can do a double 1 finger slide and it works, but for the 2 finger single slide I am not able to get it. Any thoughts?

Dedicating an hour or so a day for the next week to get accustomed to it.

Thanks in advance!!!

so i got pretty much every thing down except for supers from p2 side and buffers. cant do normal lk buffer super or tatu into super. never had issues before but my left ring finger is to blame. dominating from p1 side. any tips? still cant get 2in1 slide down to save my life.

I built a wireless hitbox clone with a case from tek-innovations about a month ago. I used a wireless 360 controller I got cheap on eBay, and a Sanwa buttons and silence pads from Paradise Arcade. The wiring is pretty sloppy, and soldering a 360 controller PCB isn’t fun at all. I left the PCB in the back of the controller case(I removed the face), and kept a rechargeable battery pack in it.

Also, I changed the rechargeable batteries in the pack to some high capacity Duracells, and I gotta say, it’s been probably over an hour a day of play time since I did this, and I’ve only charged it once. I left the play and charge cable attached to it, and attached it to a neutrik USB port, so anytime I want to charge it, I just plug in the any square-end USB cable.

I used a really small button from radio shack for the connect button. Gotta have that, since it’s wireless. I had to drill a small hole for it, but it worked out alright.

Everything works great. I had to open it up 5 or so times to get the gremlins out, but now it all everything works as it should. Feels pretty solid too. I’ll probably order some more wire in the future, since I received the wrong size last time(Paradise said they’d send new wire, but I just went ahead and used it). I definitely want to make the wiring in it nice and clean at some point too.

My camera is old and shitty, so please excuse the lousy photos. No pics of the insides, since I didn’t take any while I had it open.

I’ve been playing KOFXIII for the last week, and it’s much harder than any other game I’ve tried. It seems like the inputs have to be perfect, or else the move won’t work. Getting used to doing clean diagonal movements is hard, but the ones that get me are the hcf,b or hcb,f moves. I have to lift my middle finger, or else it hits the down button without me realizing it. And having Sanwa buttons doesn’t help either, they are so sensitive. I’m getting it though.

All I can say, is try to recognize where the error is, and then start off slow. I would compare learning this to learning a technique on the guitar. You start off slow to get it nice and clean, and then increase your speed until you do it fullspeed with the same accuracy. It’s a lot of work, and I could switch to a game with easier inputs, like Skullgirls, but it might be worth it to tackle these issues now.
