The "Stickless Arcade Stick" Thread

Here’s the thing - I actually grew up playing a lot of these game on the PC, and my execution using WASD is light years beyond my abilities with a joystick. I also have mild tendinosis in both wrists to boot, which flares up pretty badly when using a pad. The neutral position when using a keyboard is perfect for me… like playing piano.

There’s actually a couple ebay sellers with stickless arcade sticks from asia (169.99 with sanwa buttons), but I really liked the quality of the hitbox.

There you go! I bet you would scrape butts with the Hitbox

Here’s mine

Super nice one there! Is that a mix of button sizes?

All buttons are 24mm except the jump button which is 30mm.
It is however a mixture of Sanwa & Seimitsu.

Movement buttons are seimitsu PS-14-DN with microswitches swapped out for Sanwa microswitches.
Jump button is a seimitsu PS-14-GN with semitsu microswitch.
Attack buttons & start button are Sanwa OBSC-24-C

What was the reason for using sanwa microswitches?

just posted a youtube vid

Seimitsu microswitches are booty.

Thats a vague answer. In what way.

They’re similar to a pair of buttocks is what I am trying to say.

Spoiler

When people don’t like Seimitsu microswitches, they swap them for Sanwa. Sanwa SW-68 microswitches fit in Seimitsu PS-14-DN pushbuttons.

Seimitsu buttons require more force to activate so I wanted all the buttons under my fingers to have the same feel

Playing on the Hitbox for this past two weeks really improved my execution. I am able to perform Rufus 7-hit bnb almost 95% of the time. I’m also able to FADC from ex messiah kick to ultra without whiffing from under pressure.

I was using seimitsu for my directionals but now changed them to sanwa since they are more sensitive.

the swipe method is amazing with 360 grabs…

nice project. do you put it on a table or do you play with it on your lap? I play mostly on my lap and I don’t know if I would want it to be 4 inches thick. anyway, I really like it. added bonus is that it is too big to steal and it has your name on it. I always get sketched out bringing 2 sticks to a tournament and having to watch out for shady people.

Thanks, i usually play with sticks on my lap. It takes a while to get used to but the response that u make is much faster compared to a stick.

Maaan, as someone who does well with precise rapid series of button presses and not so well with precise joystick movements, this is fucking awesome. I’m diving right into this asap as my next project. Important question, though: I already have a lot of spare 30mm sanwas and I’m seeing mostly 24s on these things. Will using 30s severely reduce my ability to execute things properly? Also, if someone has a good button layout template for reference, that would be awesome.

I use 30s. I see no draw back.

If you have small hands maybe get 24’s, I also use 30mm and have no problems

can someone post a template for a 30mm version?
