Here’s the thing - I actually grew up playing a lot of these game on the PC, and my execution using WASD is light years beyond my abilities with a joystick. I also have mild tendinosis in both wrists to boot, which flares up pretty badly when using a pad. The neutral position when using a keyboard is perfect for me… like playing piano.
There’s actually a couple ebay sellers with stickless arcade sticks from asia (169.99 with sanwa buttons), but I really liked the quality of the hitbox.
All buttons are 24mm except the jump button which is 30mm.
It is however a mixture of Sanwa & Seimitsu.
Movement buttons are seimitsu PS-14-DN with microswitches swapped out for Sanwa microswitches.
Jump button is a seimitsu PS-14-GN with semitsu microswitch.
Attack buttons & start button are Sanwa OBSC-24-C
Playing on the Hitbox for this past two weeks really improved my execution. I am able to perform Rufus 7-hit bnb almost 95% of the time. I’m also able to FADC from ex messiah kick to ultra without whiffing from under pressure.
nice project. do you put it on a table or do you play with it on your lap? I play mostly on my lap and I don’t know if I would want it to be 4 inches thick. anyway, I really like it. added bonus is that it is too big to steal and it has your name on it. I always get sketched out bringing 2 sticks to a tournament and having to watch out for shady people.
Maaan, as someone who does well with precise rapid series of button presses and not so well with precise joystick movements, this is fucking awesome. I’m diving right into this asap as my next project. Important question, though: I already have a lot of spare 30mm sanwas and I’m seeing mostly 24s on these things. Will using 30s severely reduce my ability to execute things properly? Also, if someone has a good button layout template for reference, that would be awesome.
