The Stick template/Layout thread

God. I recently saw a Samurai Showdown cabinet with the MK2 “X” layout.

^ ^ ^
North American stand-up cabs never cease to amaze me with how many possible ways that they have be made incorrectly.

sounds more like the owner just stuck SS into MK

Ok, so here is the closest thing on the internet to an exact Vewlix layout:

I’m very grateful for this, but by any chance would someone have an image of the Vewlix panel art to use with this layout? I know it’s pretty simple (just streaky maroon with some concentric circles around the stick/buttons), but I’m going for complete authenticity here.

That is not exact to the Vewlix panel. I’ll have the exact Vewlix layout up in my next update which will hopefully occur in the next 5 days.

I thought the best Korean stick was the TaeYoung and people just use Myoungshins as they are too lazy to break them in.

That’s awesome, man… I can’t believe you’ve managed to amass so much information I’ve struggled to find anywhere for months!

Laugh specifically confirmed for me that the new (Myoungshin) Fantas are the new standard, now the most common by a huge and overwhelming majority. They’re considered to be as good or better than their older (TaeYoung) counterparts. Not sure about this part, but I thiiiiink the reason was something like the TaeYoungs continue to change feel throughout their lifespan (slowly softening the whole time), whereas the Myoungshins keep a consistent feel for much longer (reaching a happy point quickly and staying approximately there until they finally give up the ghost). If the OG Tekkenites there made the conversion without a fuss, they sound good enough for me!

Arcade layouts for new and upcoming fighting games…

For all of the below: L is light attack, M is medium attack, and H is heavy attack.

Sengoku Basara X
-L-M-H
R

The “R” is for Reinforcement

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (another exception to the Capcom-made VS. games)
-L-M-H
P

The “P” is for Partner

BlazBlue
-L-M-H
D

The “D” is for Drive

Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 are of course both the same as the rest of their respective series.

Like this one would be great in various button configs. Taken from akuma001, posted on Neogaf.

I wanted to update two things…

I believe that the manufacturer recommended layout for KOF98UM is the new SNK layout. The majority of arcades are using this.
A-C
B-D
However, unsurprisingly, some arcades (a minority) are still using the old SNK layout, the way it was on the original KOF98.
-B-C-D
A

Blazblue apparently will let you choose in-game between two layouts…
(I’ve heard both mentioned as the official or default or main layout, so we’ll have to wait for the final game to see!)
-B-C-D
A

-A-B-C
D
Where A B C are weak, medium, heavy attacks, and D is the new Drive button.

Maaan that “doujin” layout is taking over! I think it’s now become the defacto format configuration for newly released fighting games.

v v v link us up, doggie  v v v

shoo, you know I had another thread for this.

makstaks just posted an awesome template for the HRAP2/HRAP3 control panel here

can some help me find a template for my hori ex 2
thanxs

A few notes regarding the Taito Vewlix layout…

vocalninja posted a template here designed specifically to make new, custom control panels for HRAP shells. Pretty awesome!

I noticed something interesting too. I’m pretty sure that the ASCII Fighting Stick series’ layout is identical to the Vewlix’s main six buttons. It looks like they copied this layout down to the millimeter and then just stuck that 7th button on the end.

Take a look for yourself…

Yeah! Makes me wonder if ASCII and Taito are at all related?
(Specific arcade control panel layouts seem to be a proprietary thing, only repeated exactly by another company when they have commercial ties to each other, eg. the official Guilty Gear control panels using the Sega Versus City layout, minus that sixth button of course.)

edit: I’m pretty sure the layouts are proportionally equivalent, but that ASCII layout might actually be shrunken slightly… I think its buttons are smaller than standard ones! (Sanwa and Seimitsu 30mm’s) I’d have to take it apart to check, which I will probably eventually do.

I don’t know man, but that Dreamcast ASCII stick is pure sex!

And thanks vocalninja for posting that layout! I wish you luck with your starting business

Slagcoin’s site as a whole has already been linked a number of times in this thread, but I wanted to specifically mention that he now has the exact Taito Vewlix layout on there, for anyone who’s interested. Previous to this I believe he just had an eyeballed best-guess as a placeholder of sorts, but now it’s absolutely the real thing. Good stuff, man!

noob question
I just messed up my stick using the wrong size template. What is the proper way to print the templates on the slagcoin site. There are several different pixel sizes which should i print and how should i set it up to print. Thanks!

P.S does any one have a ss virtua stick template?

Since there is no template for the namco arcade stick PS1 ; here is mine in .Ai File :

http://butteclub.free.fr/StickLayout/LayoutNamco.ai

This one is from a Virtua stick replica , I have no clue if it could fit to an original V.stick:

And an Agetec DC Stick template :

Hey deadfrog…

How do CWB 203 A compare to Sanwa snapins 24&30mm in term of measurements?
Whats the button diameter? and whats the total surface diameter (witht the rims)?

Thanks

Oh man thanks!
