Vertical ball would be really strong, but how is it any different from Cannon Spike, Ken’s fierce SRK, or Rising Hawk, or any number of other highly vertical anti-air attacks? ST Blanka v.ball would be stupid good though, lol! It’s so fast. Maybe that’s what he needs to shoot up tiers in ST… Poor guy sharing bottom 2 with Cammy
The proximity issue would be less if it was active longer. 2F means you can perform the izuna a little farther away and still have it hit because you’d move into range. The only downside of increasing active frames for izuna is that it takes longer before the claw comes out, but claw swipe is useless AFAIK in SF4.
But I was mostly just referring to what you said which was “the hitbox is tiny”
You should say what you mean, not just mean what you say. You might as well say “I see what I eat” is the same thing as “I eat what I see.”
If it’s invincible chances are your slash will whiff and you’ll recover, and because of the long recovery, probably about the same time as the opponent. Also, chances are, you’ll simply get hit. You HAVE seen the hurt box on slash, yes? Any invincible move will simply hit it, regardless of where it is because the hurt box is stupid huge. Slash is not an OS and does not function that way. You either get the Izuna, or you get punished. That’s your option select right there.
The new input for Izuna will hopefully change this up a lot. No more missed opportunity for Izuna and getting accidental slash. Of course, you could probably OS the input if you want, but at least now we have a legitimate choice. Another reason I don’t mind changing up the inputs, sometimes you can get some really good improvements out of it.
Charge Sagat makes a lot of fucking sense (!) now that I think about it. Just replace Tiger Uppercut with something less shotoey and give him the high priority normals he deserves.
I just recorded an izuna drop setup after ex FBA on decapre. If i block I get izuna’d. F.dash gets swiped by the claw. Backdash is super hard to do but if i get it I get izuna’d. All versions of psycho sting get hit by the claw swipe even if done in a delayed manner. This took me 3 tries to record and I haven’t played Vega seriously in 6 years so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve got hit by the concept by people who actually know how to play the character so I’ve experienced how it works. It doesn’t work vs. all characters/reversals and some setups might be able to be jumped out of or hitbox shifted out, but it’s certainly not something that doesn’t exist and it is something that can be useful if done properly to allow you to cover additional options.
Not read any of the post except OP, maybe capcom should make their beloved Akuma, Ken or Sakura a charge character and see if people that are ok for vega wouldn’t flip
Charge Sagat sounds like a decent experiment actually. Give them an excuse to buff the fullscreen fireballs and make him play less like Ryu, use those giant normals instead. And he’s not really hurt by the buffered special aspect of charging either.
Funny whoever said Dee Jay could be a motion character though. Personally I’d say he needs it even more than Guile. After all, you don’t need an invincible flash kick to keep people out of the air - I still don’t want to jump at Dee Jay’s slide - but I’d be legit scared of a DJ who could do sobats while a fireball was on the screen. If nothing else, he’d terrorize every fireball character.
Vega, then. Personally I feel like Bison players have more to complain about with his walkspeed than Vega players do with his charge, playstyle-wise. But it does change him. It’s different to play a Vega that can walk forward and buffer roll than one who can’t. His other specials, you could take or leave the charge and not affect much, considering scarlet terror is absent anyhow.
I don’t expect that projectile invincibility on roll will stay, either. Now that he has v-skill for that, he doesn’t need it anymore, so I would guess walk-forward EX roll through fireballs isn’t going to be a matchup thing.
It changes him, but as has been said, he is changed anyway. Would a single charged special be enough to satisfy people who are unhappy with the change to motions? Capcom says they’re testing it out, although I don’t actually expect it to change - this is the character they’ve designed, just like Bison is really a new character with some similarities to the old one.
I don’t think anyone wants a command grab to be a charge move, a lot of people have concerns because they like to play charge characters and in this new game it looks like moves with charge inputs (I won’t even go so far to say charge characters) may not be very common.
In the entire lifetime of SF4 (correct me if I’m wrong) there was only one new charge character introduced, this is worrying when looking forwards at V.
I myself am completely fine with Vega being a charge character but having variety in the inputs is never going to be a bad thing and charge inputs are one of the fundamental pillars of SF. If they go down the 3s route where all charge characters get one move they can do on reaction (outside of the supers) then I’ll be happy.
Ryu getting Smash inputs would open up options for him and wouldn’t hinder his gameplay. Would you be mad if he(or any shoto, or any non-charge character) got Smash inputs? The thread was asked how would they feel if Ryu got charge inputs but no one answered on grounds that it wouldn’t make sense. So I found a way to pose the hypothetical without clashing with SRK’s endemic utilitarianism. Would you instantly be OK with the change because it improves the character or would you be irked by this radical, complete and sudden change?
If the game was fun, played well, had a high level meta, then who would care how it controls?? Not that I think SF will ever go that route, but in 20 more years of SF, who knows! Maybe 20 years from now SF7 will play like Rising Thunder.
MK has gone through a few control iterations. Signature moves have had input changes. MK die hards still love the games and those characters.
That one button shit gets on my nerves, played mvc3 way back and tried that out, felt so wrong lol.
Alotta things wrong with mvc but that was one of the good things about it, easy inputs was not mandatory and something that trivial should be a toggle.
That’s some seriously trivial shit to not be a regular option in games period.
I’ve never really heard of a charged command grab before. Right now from the gameplay I’m seeing with vega. Nothing stands out as overpowered at the moment. It would probably be more apparent if bison was a motion though.
