The ST match vids + discussion thread

Thanks man, I love these types of event!

Thanks a bunch. NH2 posted about it here. I have just watched the whole thing, but I have seen this like 1-2 months ago in unedited form.

If it is a good match and it “means something” in the sense that it is not a random bad day for one of the players or the single match one of the players lost in a long series, I guess it is fine. But if both players are doing bad (and lag is known to make players do bad cos they can’t react to shit), I suppose it is meaningless.

Anyway, as for the match, or sort of, some trivia: if the first two rounds are ties, the third one is meaningless. Even if you win, the other player will still get a round so the next one is final and whoever wins round 4 wins the match.

Afrolegends vs AiriBon

Good match up tools to implement in games here for both characters with stutter dps, charge partition mix ups and good ol use of normals.

Hopefully this week I can get up some matches of one of the coolest, funniest and best sports in the game. Mr. OG JSJ****

Airbon from Japan is the best Fei player on ggpo hands down (some of the japanese players like Airbon, Yuuai, Danpei, Lt dan are tournament pros on whole another level than US ggpo players with the exception of only Giga Msx, ST Player, and Afro can take them on successfully toe to toe…haven’t seen him on online in a while though

WTF homey, there ain’t no charge partitioning in ST. Best take your charge partitioning back to La Zona with you.

Airibon you mean. And Airibon hasn’t been on in ages. Jodim, who is NoGyo in Japan hasn’t come on since this summer. Airibon changed his name to something else, but then stopped coming.

I’ve seen neoray (the guy who made the Hawk videos, thanks djfrijoles) mess with Fei quite a few times and he is really good. If by the time he touches you with a rekka kick he has bar or is about to get it, be sure you are eating a combo into super.

Alabamaman posted a few First-to-4 matches today on his YouTube account. Really sick, I’d call them “Screw Tiers First-to-Four.”

I was reffering to the rush into Super/Headbutt. Didn’t know it wasn’t called charge partitioning.

Only zona I kick it in is your buttholes erogenous zone when I rape on that as lol.
iiiiiuuuu You gay fagsky.

I might put up your lame as Guile in few. What can I say…you caught me in a good/drunk mood.

Lol, you record me because you love my cock. Do watcha wanna do, I know you dream of me at night in your gay sexual fantasies.

Fagsky Guile

**My favorite part is when he throws a Sonic Boom the wrong way / backwards. Kinda like his sexual preferences lol. **

EDIT:

Mexico** fun **fact
The jumping straight up punch tactic fagsky tries at 0:13 is called the Ricky Martin in downtown Tiajuana arcades.

lol! That was versus sesho wasn’t it? I don’t think i’ve gotten u with St. HP XX super, just cr. mp xx super.

Either way, you hella gay son.

What are the commands for jump rh low strong super Pasky?

Also what are all of the inputs you use for the stand fierce super

I already explained this to mars…the trick to doing both of those super combos is charging immediately after you jump, that means as soon as you push :uf: you immediately go to :db:.

Mars cheats though, he does the guile super shortcut, I don’t, I use the reverse tiger knee.

J.Rh -> Cr. Strong xx Super: :uf::db::hk::df::db::mp::ub::mk:
J.Rh -> St. Fierce xx Super: :uf::db::hk::df::db::l::hp::ub::mk:

I always use MK to super, I don’t piano, because I’d rather sobat rather than get a bazooka knee or uber punishable roundhouse if I fuckup online. If you have to piano it, you suck anyways.

That’s how I do it. I dunno how to do the shortcut method, I think its gay and awkward. Something like, :db::r::l::u::mk: or some shit. I see no point in using it.

The two hardest guile super combos IMO are Cr. Fierce XX super and St. Short XX super, the former being pretty much useless and the latter having a lot of practicality, although people will argue that you can just cr short x2 super instead of standing short…but wheres the flash? Anyone can do that shit.

Big thanks to that gigantic flaming homo djfrijoles who actually showed me how to do some of guiles super combos to begin with, after he huddled me close to his man tits from roids, I took it from there by just practicing over and over.

lololol

Cleaning out my garage over Christmas break, I found an old box of videotapes and a recording of an old ST tournament from '94 (If that doesn’t make you feel old, nothing will!).

Most of the play in the videos is nothing impressive these days since we have so much more knowledge now with YouTube and especially footage from Japan but it does feature big names everyone knows like Mike Watson, Kuni, Jeff Schaefer and names old school ST/Cali players will recognize such as James Romedy, George Ngo, Steve Warwick, Norm Ho, Marc Acero, etc.

The commentary and the historical value is what makes this footage. And it’s amazing to see how much the game has evolved since then.

P.S. - The finals are cut off (camcorder batteries died that day). =/

Wow, is this a record for oldest proper ST footage in the US? Nice history lesson, kuroppi!

Well worthy of a SRK blog article.

Finally some ST footage from 94 with watson and schaffer, good stuff Kuroppi Btw good games Kurropi (old guile vs ur honda a month ago on ggpo) I might have played u under the alias Buckaroo Banzai : )

Awsome vids kurropi! Cool to see vintage vids of my homies Mike Watson and Jeff Schaeffer.

Kurropi was that your 1st ST tourney vs Watson and Jeff cause it seemed like they weren’t used to a rushdown honda style it seemed new to them.

Is Norm Ho (the chun li player in those vids) the chun li player known as “Beef Bowl” from ggpo a couple of years back?
