The ST match vids + discussion thread

??IIX ??? 2010/08/17???(9)

Kurahashi (Ryu) nearly winning every match in this set. Nogushi (Fei) takes him down only to lose to Nikaiten (O.Boxer). Pretty good stuff.

X-Mania archive footage. Some really amazing Hawk play. Lots of walking 360s.

you the man. are these 2010 xmania footage complete??

Inomata is truly insane. He’s absolutely styling in those matches.

All there is now of this year’s X-Mania is some soundless recordings of the last couple of matches. Hopefully they recorded everything in Japan and a DVD is coming or footage will be posted later. Though don’t count on much given Mattsun’s less than stellar track record.

Full Summer Jam 4

Classic ST on HDR Singles:

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

The grand final is anticlimactic but I’m really impressed by Justin W.

I don’t think he plays / practices this game anymore but he’s still good. (Maybe thanks to all the training back in the days @CTF ?

His footsie is pretty good (the match vs claw) and he can counter Sabin’s Sim with Chun pretty effectively.

Thanks for posting! Justin won Final Round a couple of years ago with o.sagat and o.ken… he’s still a beast in ST.

Thanks for the links to those vids =)

I didn’t know that this vid was recorded.

in this video we have:

 1. Seshomaruu(Gief) vs Hyperhuman(Chun)
 2. Seshomaruu(Gief) vs Hyperhuman(Chun)
 3. philcito(Ken) vs GeneiJin87(Boxer)
 4. philcito(Ken) vs GeneiJin87(Boxer)
 5. Seshomaruu(Gief) vs Hyperhuman(Ken)

Too much respect to one of the best Boxers i’ve ever come across in GGPO, GeneiJin87.

Some sweet team battle footage with excellent (old) character variety. We get to see Shin do a standing 720 with Hawk which is always exciting. And Kurahashi looks like he could win Tougeki this year all by himself. Definitely can’t miss SSFIIX play right here.

Hey man

You know its a dam good vid when it makes you wanna play some ST.

Thank you once again for your efforts at linking these vids for us ! I actually have a request for you now that you mentioned grounded 720’s. I was hopng you could gather some info for me on tecniques and also, I´ve noticed Hawks have abandoned safe jump to negative edges for st. neutral jab to walking 360’s/720’s. If possible, could you find more info on this tequ. for me ? Prefferably on what motions they are using exactly and WHY ?

I would second djfrijoles’ message. Nice videos, and high level Hawk shit is nothing less than impressive. I have issues against amateur Hawks, who can not consistently (if ever) take advantage of negative edge. It seems absolutely impossible to beat the top ones.

VF4 I hope you vcan look something up for me cause this sparked a debate on GGPO. I even got accused of macros AGAIN. Wouuld I be correct if I said standing 720 is not possible with Hawk without kara but walking 720 is ?

For now I’ll keep it short but tomorrow I’ll do a long write up supers in ST and post a new thread in this section. I’ll do a quick write up on each super, show some tricks and lesser known uses for each super, make a pros and cons list, and then rank them.

A true standing 720 with Hawk where you do nothing but rotate the stick and get a 720 without jumping is not possible. You must build the 720 motion into the recovery of a standing attack, do a kara 720, rotate the stick twice during a jump, or of course do the 720 off of a tick or as a reversal while waking up or while in stun. Hawk has three pre-jump frames which is not enough time to execute a standing 720 before Hawk becomes fully off of the ground.

Zangief however has five pre-jump frames so you can actually do a true standing 720. And while Zangief can do a true standing 720, it’s possible only with a programmable pad, meaning it’s not really possible for a person to actually execute a standing 720 on their own (at least that’s how I remember it). And because of frame skip even with a programmable macro input the game randomly lets a standing 720 with Gief occur only half of the time.

This is off the top of my head. I’ll dig through YouTube, T.Akiba, and a few other random sites tomorrow to see what else I can find.

Heres something to watch while we wait for VF4s post/thread

That finish is re-fucking-diculous. I think I saw god…

this isn’t a match, but…

This is fucking hilarious.

Nohoho’s posted the latest Danisen video, featuring Gian, Nuki, Shiki, Muteki, YuuVega.

– Shiki did a lot of damage to YuuVega simply by negating all his aerial attacks with j. MP, and low rushing when YuuVega walks forwards.
– Muteki has the best anti-Dhalsim Guile, for sure. His boom spacing is impeccable, and his sense of when to jump at Gian is uncanny. Manages to trade well with just Guile’s normals at close range too.
– Nuki is fucking unbelievable (as usual). Just too godlike. Among the host of tricks that he has is using the neckbreaker to escape pressure situations and instantly reverse the match momentum. I’ve seen him do it a lot in matches (compared to other Chuns).

Can’t wait for this! Here’s my put-together-in-less-than-a-minute tier list for supers:

Top: Ryu, Chun, Dhalsim, Claw, Boxer
Middle: Guile, Ken, Gief, Cammy, Fei, Hawk, Deejay, Dic,
Bottom: Blanka, Honda, Sagat

I thought about putting Hawk in top, Cammy on bottom, and Boxer in middle… like I say, this took me 30 seconds :stuck_out_tongue:
