if you just scroll down a little bit on that website you’ll see a little chart with wakeup times for every character. they definitely do vary.
Not quite, bud. That chart is what I wanted to show, but as there is no link directly to it I have provided the nearest one. If you check the explanation text right below it, it will clear things out:
IDK if there’s a misunderstanding here, but characters definitely do have different wakeup periods. Example: Claw and Sagat take 80.5 frames to be hittable again after a Special knockdown, and Boxer takes 92.5 frames. Everyone else is in between. The 0.5 only has to do with the invincibility of the 1st frame after wakeup.
Well, if what BoggleMinds wanted to say with “variable wake up timings” is “each character having their own wake up time,” then for sure, he is right. My bad, in this case. But then I would need to disagree that it is an issue: eventually, people end up memorizing tricks for each of them, such as “X gets jumped in as he bounces, Y gets jumped in after he lands and slides a little bit.” Gief and Hawk players depend heavily on it, they also get used to mid-screen safe jumps and corner safe jumps.

What the hell??? Did I see an instant overhead air tatsu at the beggining of part 2???
It’s pretty fun to do on a waking up Gief who’s in the corner. Do a meaty backwards juice kick from point blank which often hits for a knockdown and a reset. Looks stylish too.
Could be a semi-unblockable air hurricane because it’s O.Ken there. Or the Boxer player could have tried to throw or failed to reversal headbutt as well.
Air Tatsus are not overheads, they can be blocked low. Being a random unblockable has nothing to do with O.Ken, N.Ken’s Air Tatsu also hits on the 1st frame. I’m thinking the Boxer player was just trying to reversal throw.
Are you sure? The semi-unblockable dip switches in DC ST and HDR only cover the O.Shotos.

Lifted from Nohoho:
Nice catch on the O.Ken’s instant tatsu. And I had completely forgotten that it could be blocked low. Perhaps cos it’s a cross-up most the time, so it either whiffs or catches them off guard. I guess it was actually a reversal throw attempt.
I’m not sure, but according to Akiba’s data and YBH, N.Ken’s Air Tatsus hit on the 1st frame. I thought the unblockable bug was due to 1st frame hitting attacks such as Ken’s Fierce Shoryuken, which includes O and N Ken. Seems like nohoho is saying that it only affects O characters.
Well, what I know is, as a matter of fact, all Akuma’s SRKs, Ken’s fierce shoryuken (neither version, even in SSF2) and both N.shotos’ tatsus do not have a chance of being unblockable like O.shotos’ air tatsus. The game code is known to be weird, so one can not really trust rules such as “moves with no startup always have the chance of hitting”. Assembly code allows for many hacks (real meaning, that is, non-elegant code modifications) that make it hard to predict what the final effect of changes will be at first sight.
Anyone has the complete x-mania 7? I really need that.
Just a heads-up
I guess most here check NH2’s blog regularly, but in case some don’t know it yet or haven’t checked it lately, be known that it has really nice videos from recent SBO qualifiers and ranking matches. So if you want to check high high level ST action, there it is.

Can someone recommend me some names of top ST Cammy players?
Tasaka, Oota, Nakamura, Naka, Ikebukuro, Mattsun, Kita, Isaji, Sawada, Shacho, Nakajima, Tsuka. Japan actually has a ton of top level Cammy players. There are hundreds of Cammy ST matches scattered across YouTube.
VF4, O. Chun being picked is unheard of around me, is there a reason for it? I asked on another thread when some female was using O. Chun, and someone said she might not have wanted to win with super, but I hope that wasn’t the true answer. Does she have better normals? I know nothing about her.
