lol toyota kawasaki lol

I played that shit till the end. Doom 64 too. One did not have many options in that console.

I rented that game. It was fun in its novelty, but still felt like a weird Goldeneye clone.

Speaking of which, has anybody played Goldeneye 64 recently? That game has aged TERRIBLY, lol. I can’t believe it so ragingly popular back then, despite its various flaws. I guess that’s what happens when you introduce local multiplayer in a game in the 90s. The controls, frame rate, and level of polish in that game were pretty ass, and I re-played both single player and multiplayer modes religiously.

Most definitely. I still have the cartridge, but I doubt someone will ever want to buy it.

There is a much better Goldeneye 64 clone, which is Perfect Dark, in case you haven’t tried it. I liked it, but know the hard (or hardest, I do not recall) mode is impossible after a certain level. I tried several times and I would always die, no matter what.

Edit: the girls in Bastard’s video are cute, but WTF: no ass!

I actually didn’t like Perfect Dark. I don’t know why. Maybe at the time I was just a really big Goldeneye fanboy, but PD almost felt a bit more clunky and unpolished. Whatever. The only hope of playing a decent FPS nowadays is either CS:GO or Battlefield 3, neither of which is ideal imo.

I’m surrounded by Asian girls. I’m used to that. But then again you live in Brazil, where the VAST majority of your women are dark, beautiful, AND bootyfull. Lucky bastard.

Quake Live! Quake 3 Arena is the ST of FPS.

Oh, I know. I used to play Q3A back when it was in beta testing. This was all shortly before Half-Life 1 came onto the scene and dominated my life for an entire decade.

Ass is overrated, Im a big tits lover

…what?

You really can’t compare current era FPSs to goldeneye/perfect dark.

The games were awesome for their time. They are still awesome.

They were undoubtedly awesome for their time. “For their time” being the key word here. If you try to play those games now, all you’ll see is how terrible they are compared to the high bar that is set for modern games today. There’s nothing wrong with that. We can just be happy for what they did at that point in gaming’s history, and move on without forever looking at them with rose-tinted glasses.

I probably shouldn’t have put those two completely different sentences together. I wasn’t trying to compare classic N64 games to modern day shooters. Completely different. I jumped on a tangent on why I feel that modern FPS, as a genre, has fallen off in recent years, no doubt due to the massive influence that was COD4 and its yearly sequels and expansions.

Goldeneye is '97, Half-life is '98. Console FPSs are perpetually behind.

I disagree about the rose glasses statement.

Metroid for what it is, is one of the best games ever made, but if you apply 2012 game design it looks like one of the worst games ever made.

When I go back and play old classic games, all I care about is why I’m still playing a game made pre ps1.

Because they are awesome.
