I was thinking about doing Seth next anyway. So Seth it is.

We need a Dee Jay write-up asap. I went undefeated yesterday during a tournament at my local scene to place 2nd in the grand finals. I feel as if this is by far Guy’s worse match-up. It’s like everything he does is damn near safe. You can’t punish him on block for nothing he does or at least that’s how I feel. I know how to approach him on the match up. I just really need help on some good punishes for Guy against Dee Jay.

was the info that was presented earlier in this thread about ibuki still relevant in ae2012? and do you guys have any tips to blocking her vortex I dont do so hot against crossups.

Her vortex is like an unblockable crossup, and if it works the same way still then if the kunai is ambiguous you’ll have to block it as a cross up right on impact. So just before the move hits you block as if you were blocking a crossup.

Go into training mode and learn her vortex and replicate it all the ways she can do it. Then learn to block it and time EX Run to avoid it.

does the same blocking tatic work with dhalsims wakeup/teleport shenanigans?

That I’m not sure, that seems to be more of a you have block both attacks and it messes you up because of the teleport, but I do believe Guy;s has ways of getting out of that as well. But the unblockable setups most can be blocked with that method…which is a good thing against blanka players that go for Unblockable U1

Updated the remaining linked threads with all of the AE 2012 changes for each character with the exception of Yun and Yang. I’m hoping someone (if not me) will make separate threads for each of the twins. Also, should we use this thread for the Chun-Li match up? If so, I’ll provide iRedman with all of the necessary information when I get around to it.

Honda match up is my nightmare! i ve found ex izuna drop ‘bait’ with back jump very useful…with the right time it s gonna stop all buttslams on wake up but,execept for that i have no idea,run slide/neck flip punished by FA,bushin flip stopped by neutral jumps hand attack or st attack (the chop) please help

I know Hondas are annoying and they cause you the urge to jump at them but you need to play patiently and use OS. You shouldn’t be randomly runslide outside of combos since it’s very unsafe unless you have two bars to burn for a FADC.

I got it,played some matches and it s better now,block mp and hp headbutts with run/slide or hozanto ex,cr hk under buttslams and punish with chain combo or ultra 2 on block

In need of good Gen stuff, cause I play a good Gen on occasion and this match up takes a lot of patience and his footsies in a whole demolish Guy;s so anyone have experience against a good Gen aside from Pedro… who hasn’t been around lately.

Some Notes on Gen: 1. Fuzzy Guard; Jump-in or Neutral Jump Hp then immediately Jump Away with Mp. 2. Target Combo into Run Slide; then quickly Forward Dash Twice into crMk (if done correctly you should only achieve one hit on Gen’s wake, which will also beat All normal Up-Kicks and make Ex Up-Kick whiff on wake). 3. Bushin Flip; Forward Dash, Forward Jump into cross-up Mk on Gen’s wake is a true cross-up Mid-screen. If you do Guy’s safe jump, you can Back Dash when you land and be Safe from All Gen’s Up-Kicks on wake. 4. Gen has 3 really good Normals in his Mantis Stand, but they all can be punished on-block. Gen’s crLk (juggle): can be punished with Guy’s crLk, crLp, Ex Tatsu and Ultra 2. Gen’s stMp (overhead); can be punished with Guy’s crLk and Ultra 2. Gen’s crHk (anti-air); can be punished with pretty much any thing. In Gen’s Crane Stance his crHk is safe on-block, but has alot of recovery. Since Gen’s crHk has alot of recovery you can easily Whiff Punish it with Guy’s Ex Hozanto.

I think you got a few things mixed up, Mantis should be Crane and vice versa. and his crouch HK in mantis is not safe… its -7 just at max range is it safe or if it were to be push guy out of st mk or st mp range.

CrMk against Gen: 1. crMk, Forward Jump with any attack then as soon as you land on the other side of Gen, input another crMk. Or do crMk, instant Elbow Drop just in-front of Gen, then as soon as you land input another crMk. This set-up will Beat All of Gen’s Normal Up-Kicks and make his Ex Up-Kick whiff on his wake. You can easily play mind games with this set-up alone by mixing in true Jump-ins, Cross-ups, Throws and Bushin Flips. 2. crMk, instant Forward Dash, instant Ex Bushin Flip. This will create an ‘Uncrouchable’ and make all of Gen’s Up-Kicks Whiff except his Low Up-Kick which will win along with Gen’s Dashes.
