The SRK Movie Fanatic Thread (REVIEWS, QUESTIONS, RANTS, STARS...ETC.) EVERYTHING!

My viewing of the fountain was tainted by the fact that I hate Aronofsky, although I kind of tried to enjoy it, didn’t really. One of those movies where I would have been better off turning it off halfway through and doing something else.

Someone post a huge list of movies, I’m out of stuff to download and almost done watching everything I’ve downloaded over the past ~2 months, need new material.

i still think the 3rd one will make sense…it is pretty self explanatory as to what is going on in the movie and what they want to do and why…the only reason you would want to see maybe the first 2 is to get the character development that they had going throughout the movies…

im outi

Roberth

I always thought that its a filipino movie.

does anyone here use netflix? i was wondering how that downloading a movie thing from them works…do you download it permanantly? or do you stream it or what??? and is the selection of movies you can download lower than their normal selection that you can have sent to you???

im outi

Roberth

it’s streaming and extremely limited in selection at this point.

I agree the first one was God-tier in itself. Neil Marshall did seem adamant about overseeing it so it doesn’t get ruined, but still, it’s going to be very tough to top the first one. Neil was a really chill guy. Between my GF and I, he signed a descent poster, the dvd cover, and the dvd jacket. Also got a nice pic with him. :wgrin:

This isn’t the clip shown at the con, but here are some clips from the Third Mother:

Rob Zombie’s panel was actually the worst out of the whole 3 day event - from what I hear. He showed & talked about nothing new. Many said he didn’t even seem like he wanted to be there. I didn’t go 'cause I was dead tired; his panel was towards the evening. And I wanted to save my energy to wait in line for Neil Marshall (the next day). To me, The Descent > Halloween Remake.

I recommend “Copycat” if you haven’t already seen it. Probably my favorite movie regarding serial killers.

the rest of what I watched this weekend: (besides 12 episodes of The Wire season 2 and some Wonder Years)

I, Vitollini - good stuff, you can see a lot of the early influence to his later works. Some of it especially reminds me of Dolce Vita.

Angel - High School student by day, hollywood hooker by night, I have the first 3 of these on dvd I’m working through.

Hard Target - I had forgotten that Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert exec produced this

Pirates 3 - Enjoyed it, thought it was better than part 2

Spider-Man 3: enjoyed it. it did exactly what it was supposed to, entertain me. i made an effort not to overthink things and nitpick about comicbook mythos type shit. just relaxed and enjoyed a summer blockbuster.

finally updated http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=psycho+gorath

nice

wonder years hmm, bootlegs I take it as there is no other source from what I’ve seen. I have all episodes myself

You guys have any movies that just get better and better as you watch them more, normally you start off hating them?

Like I Heart Huckabees, the first time I watched it obviously I had no clue what the fuck was going on and thought it was stupid, watched it again and liked it, it’s closely approaching my top 10 list at this point, it just gets better and better.

AKIRA is the same way, as is American Psycho.

I feel like that about A Scanner Darkly and even though I don’t really like Keanu Reeves I find myself coming back to it.
Here’s my collection http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=bareknuckle. It keeps on growing and growing.

nope, I recently found out it comes on this new station called ION which I get even with basic cable. They show two episodes every night at 10pm so I have been taping them on the dvr.

anybody know the name of the new movie by the maker of the saw series ?? I think it came out like last month or some shit but I totally forgot to check it out.

Holy crap, Eva Marie Saint is Martha Kent in superman returns. She’s grown so old since NBNW :frowning:

you mean Dead Silence?

have you checked out all the new features on the new seven samurai set yet? listened to the new commentary track?

Yes, watched the movie, listened to the commentary, and watched the It Is Wonderful To Create doc (different chapters of which are on almost all the criterion dvds). The commentary was very good, different this time in that it is split up in sections between several scholars. Some of the regular names are there (Stephen Prince and Donald Richie) along with some new people. Only the female I didn’t particularly care for. The movie looks great though…the print is much better than the previous edition.
