attended the bob clark retrospective double feature last night of children shouldnt play with dead things and deathdream. full house showed up, lots of clark collaborators including the kid who played scott farkas, the writer of children/black christmas/others, the composer he most worked with, and others. It was a fun night.
i saw Breach the other day with Ryan Philipe (sp)ā¦it was okā¦i liked it but it was nothing special, although i did like ryan in it, i think he has improved his acting over the yearsā¦

Iāve got it downloaded, some of the scripts I ordered started showing up though so I have a bunch of work to do breaking them down, probably get around to it later today, Iāll edit in what I think. With that cast, it canāt be bad.
downloaded?
you are hereby banished from this thread
I have an extensive dvd collection, however school on a minimum wage job doesnāt leave me room to just buy everything I want sadly. Barely what I need =/
So yeah, downloaded, whats wrong with that. If I like the movie, it will be purchased when I get the money for it.
I donāt understand this.
lol
Who here has seen American Psycho? I swear, every time I watch this movie it just gets better and better. And no one ever seems to have seen it, which is sad, because itās so interesting.
Maybe itās just my fascination with serial killers manifesting itself, who knows.
i LOVE american psycho. bale is so fucking perfect in that movie. i canāt believe dicaprio was almost cast in the roleā¦
isnāt that what netflix/blockbuster are for?
+repped
Hey, Gorath, what exactly do you do for work in the studio?
Except instead of paying money and waiting, itās on my internet free <.<
I got introduced to J-Horror and Foreign films since going to college. Not to sound Wapanese and all that, but it seems like only the Asian, Europe and other countries are trying anything original lately. Although some would be better if not for a halfassed ending or trying to be stylistic (Tale of Two sisters, for example.)
Some Iāve seen over the semester Iād recommend.
Pray: A nice twist on Ghost stories. A young couple Kidnap a young girl, but when they call the parents to ransom her, the parents say that their daughter died three years ago on today.
Three Extremes: Three unconnected, short horror stories by three different asian āmasters of horror.ā Theyāre pretty good and live up to the title, especially the first about a Woman using a youth serum made from a gruesome source.
Oldboy: A man gets imprisoned in a hotel room for 15 years against his will, and released one day to try and discover who was responsible. It may be a little predictable at times, but the hammer fight scene and that headfuck of an ending is an experience I recommend to any serious film buff.
Audition: A widower holds a fake audition for a movie to find a new wife. He finds who appears to be the perfect woman, then finds out just how wrong he is. The last scene made me think twice about dating a Japanese woman. EVER.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance: A young deaf-mute manās failed plot to obtain a kidney for his ailing sister sets in motion a chain of events ending in a series of vengeful murders. (This synopsis from wiki sucks, but I canāt explain too much without spoiling it) Another great movie.
Creep: European horror movie about a woman trapped in a Subway station after closing hours, The same subway where thereās rumors of some murderous creature stalking the vagrants. It sounds like a SciFi channel movie, but itās better than it appears. And if youāre a Gorehound, thereās plenty of dismemberment and a āsurgeryā scene that should not be missed.
The Maid: Singapore thriller that fans of the Sixth Sense will enjoy. A young woman is hired to work for a chinese family during the Chinese month that celebrates the dead. (I forget the proper name) She is warned not to break certain rules during this time, and pays a terrible price when she does. Ignore the Ring/Ringu vibe you get from the cover, itās actually quite original.
The Proposition: Australian Western about a notorious trio of Brothers. When one is kidnapped, One brother is given a choice. Bring in the remaining brother, or watch the captured brother die. Surprisingly good.
just wait, the originality will be over reaaal quick
I donāt like that many foreign films, probably because I havenāt seen many and 90% of movies are bad in any language.
What are the like, classic foreign films you canāt miss? I hear Natali is quite good.
i saw pirates 3, as a movie it wasnt bad, it was good, but i enjoyed itā¦
i also say munich again, such an amazing fucking movieā¦if you havent seen it, go now and watch it immediatelyā¦

will i understand pirates 3 if i never saw 1 or 2? or do the movies build on each other? same with spiderman and shrek
i did see two movies this weekend
bug: i thought it was good, but it was marketed as a horror movie and its really not. its about mental illness. i saw the play before so i was interested in it, i liked it. its a lil slow in the beginning, but its worth it for the whole last scene. i was surprised ashely judd has such a nice body.
waitress: i liked it, but it seemed to drag on. when it was over i asked my girl what time it was and i was surprised the movie was only about 90 minutes long because it seemed like it was over 2 hours. it was a movie i was āforcedā to see as long as she saw bug with me, but yea its a good movie. pretty funny. if your girl claims you never take her to rom com movies then take her to this one, cause i think its enjoyable by both and then you wonāt have to sit through crap like Must Love Dogs later on. sad to see matlock shaking non stop in it, guess heās on deathās door. i wish they woulda developed the husband character more, but its def a woman empowering flick. in fact none of the male chars in the movie were portrayed as good except andy at the end.
They build on each other. If you havenāt seen the first 2 I donāt think this one will make any sense at all.
watched The Fountain. I thought it was alright. Definitely not worst movie of all time or anything close to it. Feels like it would have been better to see on the big screen, as the visuals were impressive.
yea if you got HD DVD or Blu Ray iād get it on that
looks really nice
toob ad brad pitt pulled out, iām not a hugh jackman fan
i think a lot of people smashed the movie because of its pacing
everyone knows in american cinema you need someone dying or something blowing up once every 10 mins
but its one of the movies where you gotta think and might take a couple of viewings to understand and most people donāt want that
on a bright note, i found a copy of No Holds Barred on VHS over the weekend at a garage sale
wish this came to DVD
